Match statistic
Inter is resolutely committed to maintaining their pursuit of the Scudetto, aiming to challenge Napoli, who currently occupies the top position. In their recent match at the Castellani Stadium, Inter secured a victory against Empoli, earning three crucial points that allow them to respond to Napoli while remaining four points adrift of the Neapolitans. The pivotal moment in the first half was the red card issued to Goglochidze, following a review for a serious foul on Marcus Thuram.
Empoli found themselves with only 10 players from the 31st minute onward when Saba Goglichidze was sent off. After reviewing the incident on the monitor, Referee Matteo Marchetti decided that Goglichidze's foul on Marcus Thuram was serious enough to upgrade the yellow card to a red.
In the second half, the Nerazzurri solidified their lead with Davide Frattesi's first brace in Serie A and Lautaro Martínez's return to scoring. The Tuscans, reduced to ten men, struggled to match the intensity of Inzaghi's squad, who celebrated their third consecutive away victory.
Davide Fratesi scored a brace in the 50th and 67th minute. Inter took the lead in the 50th minute when Davide Frattesi found the net with a left-footed strike from the center of the box, directing the ball into the top left corner. The goal was set up by Matteo Darmian, who provided a headed assist. After a cross to the far post by Bastoni, Darmian laid the ball off to Frattesi, who, with a deflected shot, expertly placed the ball into the upper corner.
Frattesi added another goal to his tally in the 67th minute. He struck the ball with his right foot from the center of the box, placing it into the bottom left corner. Lautaro Martínez provided the assist. The Nerazzurri executed a brilliant play, with Barella looking for Lautaro in the area, who made an astute pass to Frattesi. The latter then skillfully slotted the ball into the far post, achieving his brace.
Lautaro Martínez found the back of the net in the 79th minute with a left-footed strike from the left side of the penalty area, directing the ball into the bottom right corner. The assist came from Nicolò Barella, who capitalized on a mistake in the Tuscans' formation. Barella intercepted the ball and provided a pass to Lautaro, who skillfully outmaneuvered Vasquez, effectively sealing the victory.
