🇮🇹👉   The Italian National team departing from Rome to the United States on Tuesday 19 March 2024 ahead of the two friendly games against Venezuela and Ecuador.   The Azzurri will depart from Rome at 10:20 to Miami, Fort Lauderdale. The Azzurri landed in Miami around 18:00 local time, after a 13-hour flight on board the ITA Airways A330neo, which left Rome yesterday morning at 10:20 CET.

Italy Head Coach Luciano Spalletti had a morning training session in Rome at the “Giulio Onesti”.  The team will depart to the United States after training.

  • On Thursday 21 March, Italy will play against Venezuela (22:00 CET Italian time, 5:00 PM local time – live on Rai 1) at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, home of Inter Miami.
  • On Sunday 24 March, Italy will play against Ecuador (21:00 CET Italian time, 4:00 PM local time – live on Rai 1) at the Red Bull Arena, in the New York area, in Harrison, New Jersey.

ITA Airways will also accompany the Azzurri for their return to Italy. ITA Airways, the national airline of reference, is in fact inextricably linked to the national football team, of which it has been a partner since September 2022, and to all of Italian sport, with which it shares the honor of being an ambassador in the world of Italian excellence.

ITA Airways will accompany the national team throughout the American tour, strengthening the partnership started in September 2022, which links the Italian airline of reference to the FIGC as the official carrier of all the national football teams (National A, youth, women’s, futsal, beach soccer and export).

As reported by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), at 19:00 local time, head coach Luciano Spalletti led the side’s first session in the States, with a small-sided training game preceded by some light athletic work. There was also a surprise visit from another outstanding athlete who proudly flies the Italian flag around the world: Jannik Sinner.

First Day Training in the USA at Chase Stadium in Fourt Lauderdale

The Azzurri landed in Miami on Tuesday afternoon, around 6pm, taking the US east coast time zone as reference, after around 13 hours of travel on board the ITA Airways A330neo, which left Rome yesterday morning at 10.20am. The trip was punctuated by the right amount of relaxation in the welcoming Business and Premium areas of the plane, a few films, long chats, the usual photos with the travelers present on the flight, and the usual quality of traditional Italian cuisine.

The slight headwind encountered caused a slight delay in the programme, postponing the start of training at the ‘Chase Stadium’ by around half an hour, where from 7pm coach Luciano Spalletti led the first activity in the States, a small-field practice match preceded by light athletic work. First training session with a surprise visit from another extraordinary athlete who proudly carries the tricolor high around the world: Jannik Sinner.

Sinner, the world number 3, winner of the Australian Open and on the back of a semi-final defeat to Alcaraz at Indian Wells, has in fact arrived in Miami for the ATP 1000 tournament, which began yesterday and where other Italians are alsoo on the court today (Berrettini, Sonego , Arnaldi, Vavassori, Cobolli; Giorgi).

Welcomed by FIGC president Gabriele Gravina, head coach Spalletti and the head of delegation Gigi Buffon, and welcomed by a round of applause by the Azzurri staff and players, Sinner stopped for a long time at the stadium to chat with several players. Commitments permitting, he will return to cheering for Italy also on Thursday for the friendly with Venezuela.
