Pavoletti dreams to achieve what two former Azzurri managed: “Me, I could be like Schillaci and Paolo Rossi? It would be a dream come true but everyone has their own story and methods. I have done a great job up to now and hope that I can be a part of the squad at the European Championship. It will definitely depend on how I perform over the next few days.”
The striker, who scored 14 goals for Genoa, continued: “I had a great season, with some up and downs because of injuries. I’m really happy to be here now and giving my best but Conte will be the one who gets the final say. I possibly had the chance to be a part of the squad in March, but the injury meant I couldn’t be there. I wanted to be here and now I have managed it. When you reach this stage, you have to be ready to go, so if Conte needs me I will be ready and waiting to accept any kind of role. I am fully focused on the national team right now.”
