🏆 👉 It proved to be an impossible mission for Inter despite winning the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Second Leg against Liverpool on Tuesday 8 March 2022 at the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, England. The aggregate result was Liverpool 2 – 1 Inter. Inter is eliminated while Liverpool qualified to the Quarterfinals. Inter left Anfield with their heads held high, winning 0-1 with a great goal from Lautaro Martinez.
This game was Inter’s third away match against Liverpool in a European competition: the Nerazzurri have lost their previous two, both in the knockout stages of the European Cup / UEFA Champions League (1-3 in the semi-finals of 1965 and 0-2. in the 2008 round of 16).

Things turned bad for Inter. In the 63rd minute, Referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz gave a second yellow card to Alexis Sánchez after a foul on Fabinho. Alexis leaving the team with 10 players after his red card.
