Inter win the Champions League Group Stage – Group C game against Barcelona on Tuesday 4 October 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. Hakan Çalhanoglu’s goal at the end of the first half decided the victory. Surely, it is a very important victory for Inter getting the three points in a suffering match. Barcelona almost got a draw after the goal by Pedri who had taken advantage of an empty exit from goalkeeper Onana and deposited the ball in the net, but the VAR recalled the referee for a handball by Fati. The goal was canceled.

Inter have lost six Champions League matches against Barcelona, a negative record for the Nerazzurri against a single opponent. Xavi is only the second manager to have found defeat in the first two Champions League away games with Barcelona, after Louis van Gaal in 1997. Inter have lost their last two Champions League matches at the Meazza (0-2 against Liverpool and Bayern Munich) – only once have the Nerazzurri recorded three consecutive home defeats in the European Cup / Champions League (between February and September 2011) .
