APPIANO GENTILE – There were lots of journalists in the press room, and lots of fans crowded around outside the entrance to the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti. All waiting for him. Arriving on time, Pablo Daniel Osvaldo passed through them on his way to holding his first news conference as an Inter player. There he fielded questions put to him by reporters, before taking a few more sent in by the fans.

In the press room, he began by describing what it means to be wearing black and blue: “It’s an honour to join a club like Inter and I can’t wait to get started. I think anyone would jump at the chance if Inter came calling.”

The Italo-Argentine also spoke about his desire to prove himself once more: “I really want to be a key performer again. I’m determined to get back playing as I know I can, and show what I can do in this shirt.”

Quizzed about his and Inter’s targets for the season, he explained simply that, “My aim is to work hard and let the pitch do the talking.”

On Icardi: “He’s a fantastic player, I rate him a lot. He’s a skilful player too and I don’t think we’ll have any problems playing together.”

What about Medel? “I’ve known about him since when he was at Boca. He brings quality and lots of power.”

When Diego Milito’s name was brought up, he admitted that, “It would be great to be able to achieve what he did here. He’s someone I look up to as an example.”

After the news conference, the forward replied to some of the questions sent in by fans on Twitter via #askOsvaldo. “It’s always a pleasure to see Zanetti. I’ve known him for years. He’s really welcomed me in here.”

Finally, on the strikers he’d like to emulate: “Batistuta and Ronaldo – the real one,” he grinned.
