Erick Thohir: “We have to be a solid team”

MILAN – "We have full points from the last two games. I think we have a good team right now. It’s more balanced with more options in attack. It’s the same for the defence, thanks to Walter Samuel who has been solid in the last two games." These were Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir’s first statements to reporters upon his arrival at Malpensa Airport.
What do you think about the team with Hernanes?
"As I said, before we were attacking from the right and left. Now we have an option in the middle."

What can you tell us about Vidic?
"I don’t want to announce something that’s 90% done. I think it’s better to make an announcement when it’s complete. I don’t want to speak on something that’s not done yet."

What are you going to say to the team to motivate them for the next match?
"I don’t want to push anything. Let them enjoy the game and play the best they can. In football you have ups and downs. That’s why I said we have to be a solid team in both good times and bad. I think things are going well now but, again, I don’t want to put any pressure on them. So let’s let them play and enjoy the game and hopefully we’ll get a good result in this game."

What’s your reply to those who say you’re too far away?
"We have
the management helping me day to day over here, and I call them almost every day. I
think this system will improve in the next few months. I feel the club
is now moving in the right direction, although it’s not at 100% of what
we expect. But it takes time."

Who is your new partner?
"New partner? There isn’t one." [laughing]

Do you have other changes in mind after Branca?

"Branca helped Inter for a long time, but sometimes you need changes. There won’t be any changes in this position since Ausilio is here."

And what about Barki?
"He’s in Indonesia right now."
