Torino and Genoa ended the Serie A Week 24 game with a 1-1 draw on Saturday 8 February 2025 at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium in Turin, Italy. A point each that is good for Torino and Genoa who are increasingly distancing themselves from Lecce, Verona and Como. Their distance in the standings remains unchanged with the Granata always one point more than Vieira’s team. While waiting for the match against Napoli, Torino is now approaching Udinese at +1.

Statistical pill: Torino has remained unbeaten for seven games in a row in Serie A (1W, 6D) for the first time since the period between March and May 2019 (eight in that case with Walter Mazzarri).

Torino created several opportunities in the first half and eventually broke the deadlock from a corner, resulting in an own goal by Thorsby. In the second half, Genoa made some impactful substitutions with Messias and Zanoli coming on. The former Milan player quickly set up Pinamonti, who scored the equalizer. In the closing moments, Casadei, making his debut.  He missed a chance to secure the win. Protests in the 96th minute as Torino claimed two penalty incidents.

Next up, Torino will travel to face Bologna on Friday at 20:45, while Genoa will take on Venezia at home in the late match on Monday night.

Vanoli’s squad has remained unbeaten in the league for over a month, with their last loss being a 0-2 defeat to Bologna at home on December 21st. In contrast, Genoa’s recent performance has been mixed, with three wins, one draw, and two losses in their last six matches. Thanks to their recent successes, particularly in crucial matches against Parma and Monza, Vieira’s team has managed to create some distance from the relegation zone.

Torino gained the advantage in the 45+2′ minute, right before the first half concluded. Morten Thorsby accidentally scored an own goal. After a corner taken by Lazaro, the ball bounced into the center, and Thorsby had no chance to react, redirecting it into his own goal.

Genoa leveled the score in the 67th minute when Andrea Pinamonti netted a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. Junior Messias provided the assist after taking advantage of a slip-up by Coco. He passed the ball to Pinamonti, who skillfully controlled it before shooting. A deflection from Maripan helped the ball evade Leali, resulting in the equalizer.

Torino are unbeaten in 12 of their last 13 Serie A games against Genoa (W8 D4): the Grifone’s only win in that period dates back to March 18, 2022 at the Ferraris.
>After the 0-0 draw in the first leg on December 7, Torino and Genoa could draw both Serie A games of the season for only the third time in their history: the previous two matches were in 2012/13 and 1982/83.

Torino have lost only one of their last 40 home games against Genoa in Serie A (W26 D13): 2-3 on May 24, 2009 with a brace from Diego Milito and a goal from Rubén Olivera for the Grifone with Gian Piero Gasperini as coach.
