Venezia beaten by AS Roma in the Serie A Week 24 on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium in Venice, Italy. Roma celebrated a 1-0 victory over Venezia, marking their eighth consecutive positive result under Claudio Ranieri. The match was decided by a penalty from Paulo Dybala in the 57th minute.
With this win, Roma sits in ninth place in the standings with 34 points, trailing Juventus, who currently holds the fourth spot, by 7 points. The battle for European qualification is still on. Venezia finds itself second to last, 5 points behind Cagliari and Empoli, who are just above the relegation zone.
Di Francesco’s squad has drawn in crucial relegation battles against Verona, Parma, and Empoli, leaving them sitting second to last in the league standings.
Looking ahead, Venezia will face Genoa in a crucial relegation match at the Ferraris on Monday, February 17, while Roma will be on the road again, taking on Parma on Sunday, February 16, at 18:00.
The match…
Roma gained the advantage in the 57th minute when Argentine forward Paulo Dybala scored a penalty with a left-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner. The penalty was awarded after Alessandro Marcandalli fouled Angeliño in the box. Dybala’s successful conversion left Venezia’s goalkeeper Andrei Radu with no chance. Although Roma struggled in the second half, Dybala’s penalty kick gave the Giallorossi a much-needed boost.

✅ Stats before the game.
The last four encounters between Venezia and Roma in Serie A have been quite even, featuring one victory for each team, two draws, and a total of seven goals scored by both sides. This comes after Roma had a strong run, winning six out of their previous seven matches against Venezia in the top division, with just one loss.
Venezia managed to secure a win in their latest league match against Roma at the Penzo, triumphing 3-2 on November 7, 2021. However, they have yet to achieve back-to-back home victories against the Giallorossi in Serie A.
Recently, Venezia has been solid at home, remaining unbeaten in four of their last five league games (1 win, 3 draws), with their latest match ending in a 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona. Notably, the Lagunari haven’t had two consecutive draws at the Penzo in Serie A since the stretch between October and November 2001, when they managed three draws under coach Giuseppe Iachini.
