Getting to know our players in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It’s time to meet goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Perin was born in Latina, Italy on 10th November 1992, Mattia Perin won with the U-20 Genoa team Italian League and Super Cup. He made his Serie A debut for Genoa on 22nd May 2011, aged only 18. After spells on loan with Padova and Pescara he moved back to Genoa in 2013.

After representing Italy from U-17 to U-21, Prandelli selected Perin for the first time on 15th August 2012 for a friendly against England.

Perin was included in Prandelli’s provisional 30-man squad ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and then confirmed in the 23-man squad as the third choice goalkeeper behind first goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and second goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
