🏆👉 AS Roma ended with a draw against Porto in the Knockout Round Play-off of the Europa League on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal. Roma can take a moment to celebrate their 1-1 draw at Porto’s home ground, especially after enduring a tough last 20 minutes of the match.

Zeki Çelik opened the scoring, but Francisco Moura quickly leveled the game. It’s a bit disappointing for Roma, as they had been in control for over an hour. While Porto had more possession, it was the Giallorossi who created the clearer chances. They might feel they missed opportunities in the first half. However, a double yellow card for Cristante shifted the momentum, allowing Porto to equalize through Moura.

Looking ahead, the second leg between Roma and Porto is set for next Thursday at the Olimpico in Rome. This weekend, Roma will take on Parma on Sunday, while Porto will aim for their first league win of 2025 against Farense.

It’s a deja vu, the memory of their 1-1 draw in a friendly match four years ago still resonates. Porto comes into this game after two straight draws against Sporting and Rio Ave, maintaining an unbeaten streak of four matches. Meanwhile, Roma is riding high on confidence after their recent win against Venezia.

Coach Claudio Ranieri is counting on Artem Dovbyk and Paulo Dybala to lead the charge in attack. Let’s rally behind Roma! Go, Roma!

The Giallorossi gained the upper hand in the 45+5 minute, right before the first half concluded. Zeki Çelik found the back of the net with a precise right-footed shot to the center, skillfully assisted by Dovbyk’s pass. It was Baldanzi who ignited the offensive play after winning the ball in the midfield.

Porto leveled the score at 1-1 in the 67th minute. Francisco Moura found the back of the net with a powerful left-footed shot aimed at the top center. Diogo Costa sent a long pass that reached Pepè, who was making a run. Although Celik and Mancini managed to close him down, Francisco Moura swooped in to score with his left foot, beating Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar.

Europa League Tickets

🏆👉  Roma defeated Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, 30 January 2025, at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.  Roma secured a 2-0 victory in their final and crucial match of the first round of the Europa League, with goals from Angelino and Shomurodov. This win allows Roma to advance to the Europa League play-offs, but they will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon’s draw to learn who their opponents will be.

The Giallorossi opened the scoring just before halftime, with Mancini delivering a cross from the right flank to Angelino, who was positioned on the opposite side of the box. The Spanish winger struck the ball perfectly, leaving Trapp with no chance. In the second half, Roma maintained their dominance, sealing the match midway through the half with a play involving the two substitutes: Soulé set up Shomurodov, who managed to outpace the German goalkeeper to finish the game.

The thrill on Eldor Shomurodov’s face was unmistakable as he scored in the 69th minute, extending Roma’s lead to 2-0. He struck the ball with his right foot from the center of the box, directing it into the bottom left corner after a quick break. Soulé delivered a delicate pass that floated over the defense, allowing Shomurodov to make his move. Even though he initially missed the chance to shoot, he stayed determined and managed to beat Trapp to the ball, securing the goal.

Stats before the game

Roma has managed to secure victory in only three out of their last 14 encounters with German teams across all competitions, recording five draws and six losses. This match will mark their inaugural clash with Eintracht Frankfurt. On the other hand, Eintracht Frankfurt has faced defeat in their last two matches against Italian teams, both of which were against Napoli in the 2022/23 Champions League. This matches the number of losses they experienced in their first 11 games against Italian sides, where they achieved six wins and three draws.

Notably, Roma has only lost three of their last 45 home matches in major European tournaments, boasting 33 wins and nine draws, while keeping a clean sheet in over half of those games (25 out of 45).

    Braga 1 – 0 Lazio
6′ Ricardo Horta
Europa League Tickets

🏆👉 Lazio lost the UEFA Europa League Matchday 8 against Braga on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Estádio Municipal de Braga in Portugal.  However, despite the defeat, Lazio secured their spot at the top of the group, allowing them to advance directly to the round of 16, where they’ll meet one of Roma, Plzen, Porto, or Ferencvaros.

Unfortunately for Sporting, today’s result wasn’t enough; they finish with 10 points, tied with PAOK, Twente, Fenerbahce, and Elfsborg, but are eliminated alongside the Swedes due to a poorer goal difference. Horta’s goal gave Braga the edge over a heavily rotated Lazio, but in the second half, Hornicek’s incredible saves were crucial in keeping the Biancocelesti from equalizing. Isaksen, Noslin, and Dele-Bashiru all came close to scoring, but the Czech keeper was on top form. In the final moments, the Portuguese thought they had doubled their lead, but an offside call against Gabri Martinez silenced the celebrations of the red and white fans, as that goal would have secured their playoff spot.

⚪️🔵

 Stats before the game

This will be the first time Braga and Lazio face off against each other. Braga has unfortunately lost their last three home games against Italian sides, despite having a solid start with two wins and a draw in their first three home matches. Lazio, conversely, has had a tough time in Portugal, losing five of their seven away games against Portuguese teams (with two wins), including a 2-1 defeat to Porto in February 2022.

Sporting Braga has lost their last two Europa League matches and hasn’t lost three in a row in this competition since September 2021. In contrast, Lazio has won their last three away games in the Europa League, but they have never managed to secure four consecutive away wins in a major European tournament.

Buy UEFA Europa League Tickets

Lazio has triumphed in six out of their seven matches in this Europa League, with one draw. The only times the Biancocelesti have had more victories in a single European competition were during the 1997/98 UEFA Cup (seven wins), the 1999/2000 Champions League (eight wins), and the 2017/18 Europa League (seven wins).

In this tournament, Lazio ranks as the second-best attacking team, having netted 17 goals, just behind Galatasaray’s 18. They also have the second-best defense, allowing only four goals, with Olympiakos conceding just three. With a goal difference of +13, Lazio leads the UEL, while only Chelsea (+21), Barcelona (+15), and Atalanta (+14) have better records when including the UCL and UECL, with Liverpool also at +13.
