Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Napoli, 1st position with 54 points and a positive goal difference of +22
Udinese, 10th position with 29 points and a negative goal difference of -8

What a disappointment for Napoli! Their goal was to secure a victory in the Serie A Week 24 match against Udinese on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. However, Udinese put up a valiant effort and managed to hold Napoli to a 1-1 draw. Napoli now sits at 55 points, closely followed by Inter with 51 points, who will face Fiorentina on Monday. Udinese has reached 30 points.

This was certainly a missed chance for Conte’s squad, as they couldn’t extend their lead at the top of the table. The Friulians showcased their determination, coming to Maradona ready to compete and earn points.

Napoli’s coach, Antonio Conte, was honored with the Philadelphia Coach of the Month award prior to the match. This recognition is certainly well-deserved, as he has led Napoli to maintain a strong position at the top of the league this season.

. In the 37th minute, Napoli took the lead. Scott McTominay scored with a header from close range thanks to an assist from Matteo Politano, who delivered a cross following a corner conceded by Jurgen Ekkelenkamp. Politano’s ball to the far post set up the perfect opportunity for the former United player to score.

✈️ It’s Scott McTominay Airways! Let’s go, Scott! Jump as high as you can… take flight… and kaboom! A stunning headed goal!!!

Udinese leveled the score at 1-1 in the 40th minute when Jurgen Ekkelenkamp found the back of the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner, assisted by Jesper Karlström.

In the 87th minute, Noah Okafor makes his first appearance for Napoli, coming on for David Neres.

✅  Stats before the game:

Napoli has an impressive record against Udinese, remaining unbeaten in their last 17 Serie A encounters, with 14 victories and three draws. Historically, the only teams against which the Partenopei have enjoyed a longer unbeaten streak are Cagliari (18), Cesena (26), Como (18), and Roma (19).

At home, Napoli has triumphed in their last 10 matches against Udinese in Serie A, averaging 3.1 goals per game during this stretch. The only teams against which they have achieved more consecutive home wins are Como (12) and Hellas Verona (11). After a streak of seven straight wins, Napoli recently drew 1-1 with Roma, and they haven’t had back-to-back draws in Serie A since the final two matchdays of last season under coach Francesco Calzona.

Buy Serie A tickets

This season, Napoli has kept a clean sheet in six of their 11 home games, matching the best record alongside Juventus and Milan; they haven’t recorded seven clean sheets in their first 12 home matches since the 2018/19 season.

After experiencing three draws and two losses, Udinese finally secured a victory in their latest Serie A match, triumphing 3-2 over Venezia. The Bianconeri haven’t managed to achieve back-to-back wins in the league since they had a streak of three victories last August and September.

On the road, Udinese has faced challenges, losing five of their last nine away matches in Serie A, with a record of two wins and two draws. This is equal to the number of defeats they had in their previous 18 away games, where they recorded six wins and seven draws. Interestingly, both Napoli and Udinese are the only teams in this Serie A season that have yet to allow a headed goal. Additionally, Udinese has scored eight headed goals out of a total of 28, making up 29% of their total goals, which is the highest percentage in the league, tied with Genoa.

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Udinese, 11th position with 26 points and a negative goal difference of -9
Venezia, 19th position with 16 points and a negative goal difference of -15

In a thrilling encounter, Udinese secured a victory in the Serie A Week 23 clash against Venezia on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy. With this win, Udinese now sits at 29 points, while Venezia remains in a tough spot with 16 points, still in the relegation zone.

After a scoreless first half, the second half erupted with action. Lorenzo Lucca kicked things off in the 47th minute, capitalizing on a moment of distraction from goalkeeper Jesse Joronen to score. Just five minutes later, Sandi Lovric added another goal, bringing the score to 2-0. Venezia fought back, and in the 64th minute, Nicolussi Caviglia struck a stunning free kick from 25 meters, narrowing the gap.

The equalizer came in the 78th minute when Gytkjaer seized the opportunity to convert Candé’s assist. But the drama didn’t stop there; in the 84th minute, Iker Bravo received a pass from Solet and skillfully found the back of the net, leaving Joronen with no chance. The intense second half concluded in the 95th minute. Kosta Runjaic and Di Francesco’s squad will be gearing up for their next matches, facing Napoli away and then hosting Roma at home.

The action…

Udinese scored first in the 47th minute when Lorenzo Lucca found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the top right corner, beating Venezia’s goalkeeper Jesse Joronen. The goal was set up by Hassane Kamara, who delivered a cross from the left wing. Joronen’s attempt to intervene was less than perfect, allowing Lucca to capitalize on the opportunity and secure the lead for Udinese at the start of the second half.

Udinese quickly extends their advantage in the 52nd minute. Sandi Lovric finds the back of the net with a right-footed strike into the bottom left corner. The play begins on the right side of the opponent’s box, where a cross is sent to the center of the penalty area. Joronen attempts to make a save but is obstructed by one of his own defenders. Lovric is perfectly positioned to seize the rebound, taking a shot on the fly that hits the net.

Venezia made it a closer game in the 64th minute when Hans Nicolussi Caviglia found the back of the net with a stunning right-footed shot into the top left corner. With this goal, Venezia narrows the deficit, thanks to Caviglia’s impressive strike from 25 meters, taking a direct approach from a set piece and outsmarting Sava.

What a dramatic shift! Venezia brought the score to 2-2 in the 78th minute. Christian Gytkjær scored for @VeneziaFC_EN with a left-footed shot from close range right into the center. Fali Candé provided the assist after a corner that Jaka Bijol allowed. Candé sent a cross from the right wing, cleverly flicking the ball backward at the near post, which set up Gytkjær for the easy tap-in. The closing minutes of the match were a delight for the supporters in Friuli, as Venezia secured the equalizer.

Udinese regained the lead in the 84th minute when substitute Iker Bravo found the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. Oumar Solet provided the assist. The second half finally saw the game come alive, thanks to a brilliant individual effort from Solet, who maneuvered past two defenders in the opponent’s box, glanced up, and set up Bravo. With a gentle touch from the outside of his foot, Bravo expertly placed the ball into the far corner.

✅ Stats before the game.

Udinese has the chance to become just the third team that Venezia has managed to defeat in both Serie A encounters this season since the end of World War II, following Bologna in 2021/22 and Cagliari in 1998/99. At home, Udinese remains unbeaten in their last five matches against Venezia in Serie A, having won the last three (with two draws). The only teams against whom Udinese has played more home games without a loss are Como (10), Piacenza (eight), and Novara (six).

Currently, Venezia is the team against which Udinese has the longest active streak of home victories, standing at three. However, Udinese has struggled recently, failing to win any of their last five league matches (with three draws and two losses). This marks their worst run since Kosta Runjaic took over, matching a previous stretch of five winless games from last October to December.

The last time the Bianconeri went longer without a win under the same coach was between November and December 2023, when they went six matches without a victory with Gabriele Cioffi in charge.
