Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Napoli, 3rd position with 76 points and a positive goal difference of +40
Spezia, 16th position with 36 points and a negative goal difference of -27

Spezia saved to remain in Serie A. Napoli already secured their post in Champions League next season. Napoli win the Serie A Week 38 game against Spezia on Sunday 22 May 2022 at the Alberto Picco Stadium in Spezia, Italy. Napoli kept a clean sheet in both of their last two league games, and have not done so in three in a row since last October (four). A chaotic moment with the game being interrupted about 10 minutes due to some disturbances between fans in the stands in the first half. Napoli ends the season in the 3rd position with 79 points in the standings. Napoli did not do better than the 91 of the 2017/18 season. Spezia will play his third consecutive season in the Italian top league.

The emotional moment for the final goodbye of Lorenzo Insigne (with the captain’s armband previously worn by Ghoulam), on the pitch in the last 25 minutes in which Spalletti also made the young goalkeeper Marfella debut.

Napoli opened the score with a fast goal in the 4th minute. Matteo Politano defeated Spezia goalkeeper Ivan Provedel with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Kalidou Koulibaly.

In the 25th minute, Piotr Zielinski scored for the 2-0 with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Napoli crushed Spezia with a 3-0 in the 36th minute. Diego Demme from very close range with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Andrea Petagna.

Stats before the game. Spezia have lost 60% of their Serie A matches against teams in the top three in the table (6/10), winning three (including a 1-0 win against Napoli in the reverse fixture) and drawing the other. After a 3-2 win over Udinese in the last round, Spezia could pick up two wins in a row for the second time in Serie A this season, having previously won three in a row in January against Genoa, Milan and Sampdoria. Spezia have lost each of their last three home games in Serie A, and have never recorded four such defeats in a row in the competition.

Italy Head Coach Roberto Mancini called up 53 players for three days of work at Coverciano, May 24-26, 2022

Italian Soccer Serie A

🇮🇹  Italy Head Coach Roberto Mancini called up 53 players for three days of work at the Coverciano Technical Centre.  As reported by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), two groups of players on the National Team radar will be assessed between Tuesday 24 and  Thursday 26 May 2022.

The 53 called up players have been divided into two groups and will each take part in two training sessions. 29 play in Serie A, 18 in Serie B and six abroad. The most represented club are Genoa (six), followed by AC Milan, Empoli and Cremonese (four). The youngest player who will be involved is 16-year-old Udinese attacking midfielder Simone Pafundi, while Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who was born in 1996, is the most ‘experienced’.

This special work represents the first step on a path that the FIGC, in consultation with the leagues and clubs, has decided to go down in order to facilitate the transition from the National Youth Team setup to the senior side and to widen the pool of available players to choose from.

Mancini decided against calling up those involved in the Serie B play-offs (with the exception of Pisa’s Lucca, whose call-up depends on whether his club side make it to the final), the Serie C play-offs and the Primavera (U19) play-offs. Given that they could be part of Roma’s matchday squad for the Conference League final against Feyenoord on Wednesday 25 May in Tirana, no Giallorossi youngsters feature.
