Hungary won the UEFA EURO 2024 Matchday 3 on Sunday 23 June 2024 at the Stuttgart Arena in Stuttgart, Germany. Despite the victory, Hungary and Scotland are out of the competition.  In Group A, Germany and Switzerland qualified to the Round of 16.  This is the first official match between Scotland and Hungary. In fact, all the previous nine have been in international friendlies (3 wins for Scotland, 4 for Hungary, 2 draws).

Hungary claimed a victory in the very agonizing last minute. In the 90+10′, Kevin Csoboth defeated Scotland goalkeeper with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Roland Sallai.

✅   Stats before the game: Scotland have won two of their last three meetings with Hungary (L1) and this will be their first match since a 1-0 away win in March 2018. Scotland could reach the knockout stages of the European Championship for the first time. Although it won only two of the 11 matches played in the group stage of the European Championships (D3, L6), both victories came in the third round: in 1992 against CIS (3-0) and in 1996 against Switzerland (1- 0). Hungary has lost both of its matches so far at EURO 2024, against Germany and Switzerland. In only two major tournaments did the Hungarian national team lose all of its matches, losing both matches at EURO 1972 and all group matches at the 1978 World Cup. Scotland’s starting eleven against Switzerland in their last match featured a total of 470 caps (including that match) among the players fielded, a record for Scotland in an international match. It was also the first time for the Scots that the line-up included five regulars with more than 50 international caps: McTominay (51), Hanley (52), McGregor (62), McGinn (68) and Robertson (73). Hungary has won only one of their last 17 major tournament matches (EURO + World Cup) against European teams (D5, L11): a 2-0 win over Austria in the first round of EURO 2016.
