Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Juventus, 2nd position with 36 points and a positive goal difference of +14
Genoa, 14th position with 15 points and a negative goal difference of -5

Genoa and Juventus ended the Serie A Week 16 game with a draw on Friday 15 December 2023 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, Italy. Juventus therefore failed to overtake Inter, remaining in second place. Genoa took a further point away from the relegation zone, now putting Empoli and Udinese six behind.

A goal in each half divides the spoils of the match between Genoa and Juventus. In the 28th minute, Chiesa converted a penalty.  At the start of the second half, the equalizer came immediately, with the newly introduced Ekuban serving Gudmundsson in front of the goalkeeper, with the Icelandic beating Szczesny with a split.

Juventus took the lead in the 28th minute. Federico Chiesa converted a penalty defeating Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martínez with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty was conceded by Josep Martínez after a foul on Chiesa.

Genoa equalized in the 48th minute. Albert Gudmundsson defeated Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The headed assist is by Caleb Ekuban.

Stats before the game: After a streak of five defeats in a row against Juventus in Serie A, Genoa won their last match against the Bianconeri in the league (2-1 on 6 May 2022) – the Grifone did not achieve two consecutive successes against the Vecchia Signora in Serie A since 1991 (three in that case, with Osvaldo Bagnoli as coach). No draw in the last 10 matches at the Ferraris between Genoa and Juventus in Serie A: four rossoblù victories and six bianconeri successes (31 goals overall in the period, 3.1 on average per match) – the last “X” sign at Grifone’s home in the tournament it dates back to March 11, 2012 (0-0 in that case). Genoa remained unbeaten in five of the last six home league games (W3, D2), obtaining seven points in the last three games at Ferraris; the only home defeat in the period came against Milan on 7 October (0-1). Juventus have earned 36 points in 15 games and if successful in this match they would rise to 39, already more than the points obtained in the entire first round of last season’s Serie A (38 in 19 games). With the victory against Napoli, Massimiliano Allegri equaled Carlo Ancelotti in 1st place among the coaches who have recorded the most successes in Serie A with a score of 1-0 in the era of three points for a win (75 for both).

Roma and Fiorentina ended the Serie A Week 15 game with a draw on Sunday 10 December 2023 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. Romelu Lukaku immediately opens the score. The first 45 minutes end without any particular or further emotion, but in the second half the match takes on a completely different character; first, in the 65th minute, Zalewski remedied the second penalty which would later prove decisive, as taking advantage of the numerical superiority, in the 66th minute, Fiorentina equalized the score with a decisive twist from Lucas Martinez Quarta on Kouamé’s cross. A match with tense nerves follows, and in the 87th minute, the second blow arrives for Mourinho, who also loses his center-forward Lukaku due to a hard tackle against Kouamé due to an expulsion.

Roma lost their last match against Fiorentina and could suffer two consecutive defeats against Viola in Serie A for the first time since April 2012, with Luis Enrique on the bench. Fiorentina have kept a clean sheet at Roma only once in their last 30 Serie A away games: on 7 April 2018, when they won 2-0, with goals from Benassi and Simeone; Viola conceded 67 goals in the half, for an average of 2.2 per game. Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 2nd position with 35 points and a positive goal difference of +26
Udinese, 16th position with 12 points and a negative goal difference of -9

Inter won in grand style the Serie A Week 15 game against Udinese on Saturday 9 December 2023 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Inter took back the first position being +2 points above Juventus with 36 points. Good news continues for Inter because Argentinean forward Lautaro Martínez remains the top scorer with 14 goals.  Inter and Udinese have faced each other 100 times in the league. In previous matches Inter won 51 times, Udinese won 22 times while there were 27 draws.

Inter opened the score in the 37th minute. Hakan Çalhanoglu converted a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty was conceded by Nehuén Pérez after a foul on Lautaro Martínez

Inter closed the first half with a 3-0 lead. In the 44th minute, Marcus Thuram scored with a right-footed shot from very close range to the bottom right corner. Assisted by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Image

The brilliant sealer. Lautaro Martínez sealed the victory in the 84th minute with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Stats before the game. Inter have lost only one of their last 11 matches against Udinese in Serie A (W8, D2), a defeat that came in the first leg of last season’s match, 3-1 on 18 September 2022; more generally, the Nerazzurri have found 13 successes in the 17 most recent matches against the Friulians in the competition (2N, 2L). Udinese have found the net in each of their last three Serie A games against Inter (1W, 2D), after having failed to score seven times in the previous eight games against the Nerazzurri in the league.
Inter have won their last five home games against Udinese in Serie A and have never recorded more home successes in the competition against this opponent (five also between 1984 and 1989).  With 12 points in their first 14 league games, this is Udinese’s worst start to a Serie A season in the three-points-for-a-win era; the Friulians have always collected at least 13 points after the first 15 matches played in the competition since 1994/95. Inter have obtained 35 points in this Serie A: they could reach 38 points after the first 15 matches in a single top-flight championship for the fourth time in the competition (considering three points for a win always), after 2006/07 (39 ), 2017/18 (39) and 2019/20 (38).

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
AC Milan, 3rd position with 29 points and a positive goal difference of +9
Atalanta, 8th position with 20 points and a positive goal difference of +5

Atalanta won the Serie A Week 15 game on Saturday 9 December 2023 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. This is a prestigious victory for Atalanta to help them to climb to the European zone.   The big flop is for AC Milan on their quest to keep up the race for the Scudetto. Atalanta reached 23 points, bringing them closer to the Champions League zone. However, Milan remained stuck at 29 points and sees the top of the table move away, perhaps almost definitively. The hero is Luis Muriel who scored the winner goal in the 94th minute.

Atalanta opened the score in the 38th minute. Ademola Lookman defeated AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a right-footed shot to the center. The assist is by Teun Koopmeiners.

AC Milan equalized in the 45+2 minute just before ending the first half. It is French forward Olivier Giroud to defeat Atalanta goalkeeper with a headed shot to the high center. The assist is by Alessandro Florenzi with a cross following a corner conceded by Giorgio Scalvini.

Atalanta took the lead again in the 55th minute. It is again Ademola Lookman to score with a right-footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Charles De Ketelaere.

AC Milan equalized again in the 80th minute. Luka Jovic scored with a left-footed shot to the center. The assist is by Christian Pulisic.

Atalanta got the victory in the very final minute of the game. In the 94th minute, Colombian forward Luis Muriel scored in the 94th minute with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Aleksey Miranchuk.

✅  Stats before the game: Milan have remained unbeaten in their last five Serie A matches against Atalanta (W4, D1): the Rossoneri have not reached six games in a row without losing to the Bergamo side since the period between 2008 and 2012 (six matches in that case). Atalanta have drawn 44 of their 124 Serie A matches against Milan: against no opponent have they had an impact more times in the competition (44 also against Juventus); despite this, only one “X” has arrived in the last six matches between the two teams (1-1 on 21 August 2022), compared to four victories for the Rossoneri and one for the Nerazzurri. Atalanta have won only one of their seven home games against Milan in Serie A with Gian Piero Gasperini on the bench (D3, L3): 5-0 on 22 December 2019; more generally, that is the only one of the last 15 home matches against the Rossoneri in the league in which the Bergamo players kept a clean sheet.  Milan have won at least nine of their first 14 Serie A matches for four seasons in a row for only the second time in their history, after also managing to do so between 2002/03 and 2005/06, when he was at the helm of the Rossoneri Carlo Ancelotti. Atalanta have lost 14 Serie A matches in 2023 (17W, 6D) and have not done worse in a single calendar year since 2015 (15); furthermore, after the defeats against Napoli and Turin, the Bergamo team could record three consecutive defeats in the league for the first time since November 2022.

👉 Lineup ATALANTA (3-4-2-1):  Musso; Zappacosta, Djimsiti, Scalvini, Ruggeri; Pašalić, de Roon, Éderson; Koopmeiners; Lookman, De Ketelaere.

👉 Lineup AC MILAN (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Hernández, Florenzi; Loftus-Cheek, Reijnders, Musah; Chukwueze, Giroud, Pulisic.
