Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AC Milan, 3rd position with 42 points and a positive goal difference of +17
Udinese, 16th position with 18 points and a negative goal difference of -11

AC Milan with a sprint race won the Serie A Week 21 game on Saturday 20 January 2024 at the Dacia Arena in Udine, Italy.  Milan arrived with a huge 3-1 victory against Roma behind them, and are in third place with 45 points in total. A different situation for Udinese, who occupy the 16th place in the general classification remaining with 18 points.

AC Milan opened the score in the 32nd minute. Ruben Loftus-Cheek defeated Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Théo Hernández.

The game was temporarily suspended following the racist abuse from some Udinese fans to AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Miagan.

Lazar Samardzic equalized for Udinese in the 42nd minute. Samardzic defeated AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Lorenzo Lucca.

Udinese took the lead in the 62nd minute. Florian Thauvin scored with a left footed shot.

AC Milan equalized in the 83rd minute. Luka Jovic scored from very close range with a headed shot to the high center.

Noah Okafor scored the winner goal in the 93rd minute from very close range with a right footed shot following a corner conceded by Maduka Okoye.

✅ Stats before the game: Udinese have won the last two matches against Milan in the league and never in their history have they achieved three successes in a row against the Rossoneri in Serie A. After the 1-0 success at the Meazza last November 4, Udinese could win both matches in a single season against Milan in Serie A for only the second time, after 2016/17. Great balance in the last eight matches in Friuli between Udinese and Milan in Serie A: three successes for each side and two draws. The Bianconeri won the most recent one (3-1 on 18 March 2023). Udinese is the team that has drawn the most matches this season in the top five leagues: 12 out of 20 (2W, 6D). The last team to record as many draws after 20 Serie A matches this season was Torino in 2007/08. The last club to draw at least 13 of their first 21 matches in a single top division was Inter in 2004/05 (14 in that case). Milan won both matches played in 2024 in Serie A, in the previous 13 calendar years only in 2018 did the Rossoneri win all the first three matches played in the league – winning all the first four in that case, with Gennaro Gattuso at the helm. Stefano Pioli has won 99 of 165 matches in charge of Milan in the league, only four coaches have achieved 100 successes with the Rossoneri in Serie A: Carlo Ancelotti, Nereo Rocco, Fabio Capello and Nils Liedholm. Among these, the one to have crossed the finish line of 100 victories using fewer games was Carlo Ancelotti (165).

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AC Milan, 3rd position with 39 points and a positive goal difference of +15
AS Roma, 9th position with 29 points and a positive goal difference of +10

AC Milan survived the pressure and won the Serie A Week 20 game on Sunday 14 January 2024 at San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. Roma failed big time to grab this victory to climb the Standing towards the European zone. Milan are at 42 in the standings, nine points behind leaders Inter but nine points behind fifth-placed Lazio. AC Milan’s place in the Champions League now seems consolidated with some hidden hope of taking advantage of any collapses of the front two and dreaming big. Roma instead wasted a chance to get closer to fourth place, slipping five points behind Fiorentina. Week to forget for Mourinho’s men, eliminated in the Italian Cup by Lazio and clearly defeated this evening.

From December onwards the Rossoneri got back on track losing, curiously, only two matches in all competitions and both against Gasperini’s team. However, a different story for Roma who in the last seven away games have only won the one against Sassuolo on 3 December, then losing the last three in a row without ever scoring a goal. For the Giallorossi, tonight could be a sort of last resort to stay in the fight for fourth place which is worth access to the new Champions League.

AC Milan opened the score in the 11th minute. Yacine Adli defeated AS Roma goalkeeper with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Tijjani Reijnders.

Milan doubled the score in the 56th minute. Olivier Giroud scored from very close range with a headed shot to the center. The assist is by Simon Kjær following a corner conceded by Rasmus Kristensen.

Roma shortened the distance in the 69th minute.

The Rossoneri sealed the game in the 84th minute.

✅  Stats before the game: Since 27 October 2019 (2-1 in Rome with goals from Edin Dzeko, Nicolò Zaniolo and Théo Hernández) Roma have not found a victory against Milan in Serie A: since then in eight championship matches five Rossoneri wins and three draws. Milan have remained unbeaten in their last five Serie A home games against Roma: three wins and two draws (including the 2-2 draw last season); the Giallorossi’s last success at the Meazza against the Devil dates back to the 0-2 on 1 October 2017 (goals by Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi, Eusebio Di Francesco and Vincenzo Montella the coaches). In all of the last seven Serie A matches between Milan and Roma, both teams have found a way to score (25 goals in total, 3.6 on average per match); the last clean sheet was recorded by Milan in the 2-0 on 28 June 2020.  In the last seven days of the championship, Milan have obtained 16 points (5W, 1D, 1L), also recording four clean sheets: in this period of time only Inter and Juventus (17 each) have gained more points than the Rossoneri in Serie A. Roma have lost (without scoring any goals) in their last two Serie A away games: they have not collected three consecutive defeats away from home in the league since September-October 2021 and have not lost three games away from the Olimpico without scoring a goal since March 2005 , with Delneri on the bench.

👉 Lineup AC MILAN (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Kjær, Gabbia, Hernández; Loftus-Cheek, Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leão.

👉 Lineup AS ROMA (3-5-2): Svilar; Kristensen, Mancini, Llorente; Çelik, Cristante, Paredes, Bove, Spinazzola; Lukaku, El Shaarawy.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Fiorentina, 4th position with 33 points and a positive goal difference of +8
Udinese, 16th position with 17 points and a negative goal difference of -11

Fiorentina and Udinese ended the Serie A Week 20 game with a draw on Sunday 14 January 2024 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy. Fiorentina regained fourth place with 34 points but with just one point ahead of Lazio, now fifth. Udinese leads Cagliari at 18 points, +1 from the relegation zone.
An intense match full of reversals saw Udinese take the lead with Lovric, in the second half Beltran found the equalizer but the guests took the lead again with Thauvin. In the final,a penalty for the Tuscans converted by Nzola to equalize.

In the last two meetings between the teams, Fiorentina won against Udinese with a score of 2-0. Both have come back from a defeat and a victory in the championship. Fiorentina tries to regain fourth place alone, when Udinese visits them in search of safety points.

Udinese opened the score in the 10th minute. Sandi Lovric defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Lorenzo Lucca.

Fiorentina equalized in the 56th minute. Lucas Beltrán defeated Udinese goalkeeper with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Marco Faraoni.

Udinese took the lead again in the 73rd minute. Florian Thauvin scored with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Sandi Lovric.

Fiorentina reacted and got another draw in the 87th minute. M’Bala Nzola converted a penalty with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty was conceded by João Ferreira with a handball.

Stats before the game: Fiorentina won the last two championship matches against Udinese with a score of 2-0: since the two-year period 1952-1953, Viola have not beaten the Friulians three times in a row in Serie A without conceding a goal. In eight of the last nine Serie A matches between Fiorentina and Udinese, at least one of the two teams has not found a way to score; only the 3-2 against Viola on 25 October 2020 is an exception in this sense. Fiorentina have won in 14 of their last 15 Serie A home games against Udinese (1P); A total of 31 away defeats have been suffered by the Friulians against the Tuscans in Serie A (like against Roma): in away games played in the top division, the Bianconeri have only suffered more defeats against Juventus (38). Fiorentina have won in their last four home league matches and have not conceded any goals in their last three: the Tuscan team did not collect four consecutive clean sheets at home between February and April 2018 (three wins and a draw in that case). Despite the defeat against Sassuolo, Fiorentina recorded their second best first round in Serie A of the last 10 seasons: with 33 points they are only inferior to the 38 achieved in the first 19 matches of the 2015/16 season (Paulo Sousa coach).

👉 Lineup Fiorentina (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Kayode, Martinez Quarta, Ranieri, Biraghi; Duncan, Mandragora; Ikonè, Bonaventura, Brekalo; Beltran.

👉 Lineup Udinese (3-5-1-1): Okoye; Ferreira, Perez, Kristensen; Festy, Samardzic, Walace, Lovric, Kamara; Pereyra; Lucca.
