Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
Inter, 1st position with 72 points and a positive goal difference of  +56
Bologna, 4th position with 51 points and a positive goal difference of +17

Inter with a sprint race won the Serie A Week 28 on Saturday 9 March 2024 at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy. A difficult but overall deserved victory for Inter, who only needed a header from Bisseck to get full 3 points. In the second half, Thiago Motta’s team put Inzaghi’s team under pressure but were unable to break through the Nerazzurri wall. Three points that bring the Scudetto even closer. Inter have picked up 75 points in the current league season, only once in Serie A’s history a team gained more points after 28 matches, that is Inter in 2006/07 under Roberto Mancini (76).

Bologna slow down their pursuit of the Champions League but still remain firmly in fourth place. Bologna falls at home for the first time since last August 21st, Milan had been the only team capable of beating the rossoblù at the Dall’Ara.

Increasingly European ambitions for Thiago Motta’s incredible Bologna, even more so after the blow at the Gewiss Stadium in the direct clash with Atalanta. There are six victories in a row with which the rossoblù welcome the league leaders, the latest knockout. it dates back to the misstep in Cagliari last January 14th, while only AC Milan have advanced to the Dall’Ara on the first matchday this season.

Inter took the lead in the 37th minute. Yann Bisseck defeated Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski with a headed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Alessandro Bastoni.

Stats before the game: Bologna have remained unbeaten in three of their last four league matches against Inter (2W, 1D), including the two most recent ones – the last time the Emilians avoided defeat in three straight games against the Nerazzurri in Serie A dates back to the period between March 2013 and April 2014. After the 2-2 draw in the first leg last October 7, Bologna and Inter could draw both seasonal matches for only the second time in Serie A, after 2013/14. Bologna have won their last two home games against Inter in the league and have not achieved three successes in a row at the Dall’Ara against the Nerazzurri in Serie A since the period between 1973 and 1975 with Bruno Pesaola as coach. Bologna have won their last six championship matches, only once have they achieved at least seven consecutive successes in their history in Serie A: 10 between November 1963 and February 1964 with Fulvio Bernardini at the helm. Inter have gained 72 points in this championship and in case of success against Bologna they will reach 75 points after 28 matches, only once in the history of Serie A has a team won more points after as many seasonal matches: always Inter in 2006/07 with Roberto Mancini as coach (76). The Nerazzurri could also win at least 10 games in a row for only the third time in their history in Serie A: after 5pm between October 2006 and February 2007 and 11am between January and April 2021.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Napoli, 7th position with 43 points and a positive goal difference of +11
Torino, 10th position with 37 points and a  goal difference of  “0”

Napoli and Torino ended the Serie A Week 28 game with a draw on Friday 8 March 2024 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. The main protagonists are above all the goalkeepers. On the one hand, Milinkovic-Savic, author of two crazy interventions, both on Kvara served perfectly by Politano, on the other hand Meret, good at saying no in a reactive manner on a missile from Zapata. Lots of emotions, several clashes, but 45 minutes ended with no goals. Torino is the team that has drawn the most games with a score of 0-0 this season in the top five European leagues (six). In general, only Udinese (15) have recorded more draws than the Granata (10) in the 2023/24 Serie A.

Napoli opened the score in the 61st minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia defeated Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Mário Rui.

Torino equalized in the 64th minute. Antonio Sanabria defeated Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret from very close range with a right-footed shot to the high center following a corner conceded by Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Stats before the game: Torino is the opponent against whom Napoli has drawn the most matches in their history in Serie A: 55 out of 139 (51 Neapolitan successes and 33 Granata victories complete the picture) – the last draw between the two teams in the championship dates back to the 23rd December 2020 (1-1 at Maradona). After the 3-0 success in the first leg, Torino could win both seasonal matches against Napoli in Serie A for the second time in the era of three points for a win in Serie A, after 2008/09.
Napoli have remained unbeaten in their last 11 home matches against Torino in Serie A (7W, 4D), the Granata’s last success away from home against the Neapolitans in the tournament dates back to 17 May 2009: 2-1 comeback with goals from Rolando Bianchi and Alessandro Rosina after the Italian team’s initial lead by Inacío Pià. Napoli have won the last two championship matches, the Neapolitans have not recorded three successes in a row in the same season in Serie A since the period between January and February 2023 (eight in that case).

👉 Lineup NAPOLI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Ostigard, Juan Jesus, Mario Rui; Zambo Anguissa, Lobotka, Zielinski; Politano, Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia.

👉 Lineup TORINO (3-4-1-2): Milinkovic Savic; Djidji, Buongiorno, Masina; Bellanova, Linetty, Gineitis, Rodriguez; Vlasic; Pellegri, Zapata.

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2023-2024 Italian Serie A Week 27 RESULTS / Twenty-seventh Round on Friday 1, Saturday 2, Sunday 3, and Monday 4 March 2024.  Inter is the sole leader with 72 points after defeating Genoa.    Juventus follow in the 2nd position with  57 points.  Surely, Inter is running a sole race to claim the Scudetto.  Inter therefore took advantage of Juventus’ fall in Naples and further pulled ahead of their pursuers, moving up to +15 and getting closer to the 20th Scudetto in their history. An excellent Genoa is not enough: Gilardino’s team remains in 12th position with 33 points.

The chaotic game between Lazio and AC Milan ended with a brawl .  Milan got the victory valid towards the access to the next editions of the Champions League and Europa League. Milan extends the gap on their pursuers for qualification for the next Champions League and moves to -1 behind Juventus.  Bad news is for Lazio because they are out from the European zone down in the ninth and risk moving further away.  Lazio got 3 red cards. Ouch.

Napoli with a valuable home victory in their hope to climb to the European zone. Contrariwise, it is another defeat for Juventus, which continues their negative period.  Only one victory in the last six for the Bianconeri. The hero is Giacomo Raspadori scoring the winning goal on the rebound of Victor Osimhen’s penalty which was saved.   Surely, it is a tough defeat for Juventus because they remain with 57 points in the second position followed by AC Milan with 56 points in the 3rd position.

Tough debut for Sassuolo Coach Mister Ballardini, his first on the black-green bench, with a defeat. The first goal in Serie A for Karol Swiderski and it is a very heavy goal, because not only gave the victory to Hellas Verona with 23 points, but it also allowed them to put three points between themselves and Sassuolo (still stuck on 20), as well as catch up with Frosinone.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Genoa, 12th position with 33 points and a negative goal difference of -3
Inter, 1st position with 69 points and a positive goal difference of +55

Inter with a one-way race for the Scudetto win the Serie A Week 27 game against Genoa at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. Inter therefore took advantage of Juventus’ fall in Naples and further pulled ahead of their pursuers, moving up to +15 and getting closer to the 20th Scudetto in their history. An excellent Genoa is not enough: Gilardino’s team remains in 12th position with 33 points.

The Nerazzurri are experiencing a golden period and come into today’s match with a series of ten consecutive victories in the league. The last draw dates back to the first leg match against Genoa, with the result 1-1 on 29 December. Inzaghi finds important players such as Acerbi and Thuram among his squad, plus Frattesi who was in doubt until a few days ago. Still in the pits, however, Calhanoglu.

Kristjan Asllani took the lead in the 30th minute. Asllani defeated Genoa goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Alexis Sánchez. A memorable goal for Asllani scoring his first goal for Inter. Way to go.

Image

Inter got a penalty in the 38th minute. Alexis Sánchez defeated Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martínez by converting the penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty was conceded by Morten Frendrup after a foul in the penalty area on Nicolò Barella.

Image

Genoa shortened the distance in the 54th minute. Johan Vásquez defeated Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner.

Stats before the game: Inter have remained unbeaten in their last nine matches against Genoa in Serie A (7W, 2D), conceding just one goal in the period – Grifone’s last success against the Nerazzurri in the league dates back to 17 February 2018 (2-0 in Ferraris). Inter and Genoa both drew their last two championship matches, only once in Serie A have the two teams recorded more draws in a row: three between 1978 and 1982 (Eugenio Bersellini was the Nerazzurri coach while Luigi Simoni was the Grifone technician). Inter have won all of their last nine home games against Genoa in the league, among the teams currently in Serie A only against Fiorentina (12 between 2001 and 2013) and Lecce (10 between 2001 and 2023) have they achieved one longest domestic streak. In the event of success against Genoa, the Nerazzurri will have gained 72 points in 27 matches, exactly as many as they had obtained in the entire last Serie A season (72, but in 38 matchdays). Furthermore, Inter could win nine matches in a row in Serie A for the first time with Simone Inzaghi at the helm, the last time in fact dates back to the period between January and April 2021 (11 in that case with Antonio Conte). Genoa have remained unbeaten in 10 of their last 11 league matches (W4, D6); since mid-December 2023, in fact, only Inter have not lost any of the matches played in Serie A (11 matches – 10W, 1N).
