Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Lazio, 9th position with 40 points and a  positive goal difference of +3
Udinese, 17th position with 24 points and a positive goal difference of +15

Udinese caused an upset at the Olimpico Stadium by winning the Serie A Week 28 game against Lazio on Monday 11 March 2024 in Rome, Italy. Lazio missed a great opportunity and moves away from the European zone, with the Champions League now 11 points away. Udinese makes a leap forward and leaves the relegation zone, moving up to thirteenth place.

Udinese beat the Olimpico and move away from the hot zone. After a balanced first half and with Lazio close to scoring through Zaccagni, everything happens in just a few minutes of the second half. The guests pass with Lucca, but Lazio immediately equalizes with an own goal from Giannetti, not even having time to beat that Zarraga puts the Friulians back ahead. The hosts pressed but were no longer able to regain the result.

Lazio is currently in ninth place in the standings with 41 points (result of 12 wins, 5 draws and 11 defeats); Udinese, on the other hand, is 15th in the standings with 25 points (the result of 3 wins, 16 draws and 9 defeats).

Udinese took the lead in the 47th minute. Lorenzo Lucca defeated Udinese goalkeeper from very close range with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Hassane Kamara.

Lazio equalized in the 49th minute thanks to the own goal by Lautaro Giannetti.

Udinese took the lead again in the 51st minute. Oier Zarraga scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Florian Thauvin.

✅    Stats before the game: Udinese have won only one of the last 18 Serie A matches against Lazio (5N, 12P): 3-1 at the Olimpico stadium on 29 November 2020, with goals from Arslan, Pussetto and Forestieri. Udinese is the team against which Lazio have kept a clean sheet the most times during the last 10 Serie A seasons (since 2014/15): 12 out of 19 matches in the period. After a series of five consecutive home wins without conceding a goal, Lazio have not won any of their last three home matches against Udinese in Serie A, drawing the most recent two (1P): the Biancocelesti have never hit more than once in a row at home against the Friulians. Lazio have lost four of their last six championship matches (2W), including the two most recent (against Fiorentina and Milan): the Biancocelesti have not recorded three defeats in a row in Serie A since July 2020. Udinese have won only one of their last nine league matches, compared to four draws and four defeats – however, the only success in this run came away, 1-0 on 12 February against Juventus.
