Juventus is on a mission to secure their position within the European zone. Juventus won the Serie A Week 23 match against Empoli on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Juventus Stadium in Turin, Italy.  Juventus secures its second win of 2025, boosting its chances for a top four finish, currently sitting in fourth place with a slim one-point lead over Lazio and three points ahead of Bologna. Following their first defeat of the season in Naples and a disappointing home loss to Benfica in the Champions League, Motta’s squad is redeeming themselves with this victory to get back on track. Meanwhile, Empoli is desperately to achieve a victory that has eluded them since December 8th, holding only a one-point lead over the relegation zone.

Empoli puts up a fight against Juve but loses momentum in the second half due to injuries to Anjorin and Ismajli. Kolo Muani shines for the Bianconeri, scoring twice, while Colombo nearly levels the score for Empoli in the 81st minute. However, Maleh’s second yellow card seals the deal. In the closing moments, Vlahovic’s powerful shot and Conceiçao’s right-footed effort spark celebrations for the Bianconeri. Looking ahead, Motta’s squad will face Como, while D’Aversa’s team will take on Milan at the Castellani.

Renato Veiga is making his first appearance, stepping in for the injured Kalulu in the center of defense alongside Gatti. Juventus fans were left stunned at the Allianz Stadium as Empoli struck first in the 4th minute. Mattia De Sciglio found the net with a close-range header after a corner kick taken by Nicolás González. Later, another corner from Henderson saw Yildiz get a slight touch, allowing De Sciglio to score again by heading the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Juventus can breathe a sigh of relief! In the 17th minute, Empoli was awarded a penalty after Esposito’s impressive run and a clever pass to Maleh, who was fouled by Di Gregorio. However, after reviewing the play, Zufferli overturned the decision, ruling that Anjorin’s arm touch was not a penalty.

Juventus leveled the score at 1-1 in the 61st minute when Randal Kolo Muani found the back of the net with a right-footed strike into the bottom left corner. He outmuscled Goglichidze in the box and fired a strong shot past goalkeeper Devis Vásquez, hitting the near post.

Juventus turned the game around and took a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute. Randal Kolo Muani found the net with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner, thanks to an assist from Timothy Weah. Yildiz then sent a shot toward the center, and Weah, receiving the ball from Yildiz, struck it powerfully towards the goal. However, it deflected off Kolo Muani, leaving Vasquez surprised and unable to react in time.

Empoli faced a tough situation in the 84th minute when they were reduced to 10 men due to Youssef Maleh getting a double yellow card.

In the 90th minute, Dušan Vlahović found the back of the net with a powerful left-footed shot aimed at the top left corner. The Serbian skillfully maneuvered the ball to the edge before delivering a stunning left-footed strike that hit Vasquez. Juventus’ game has come to an end.

Juventus clinched a stunning fourth goal in the 92nd minute!   Francisco Conceição found the net with a left-footed strike into the bottom right corner. The brilliant assist came from Khéphren Thuram, who delivered an incredible pass to Conceição. With only Vasquez to beat, he coolly finished with a low and powerful right-footed shot. It’s a poker for the Bianconeri, sparking joyous celebrations at the Stadium after a shaky first half.

The battle for the Scudetto is heating up! Atalanta, currently sitting in 3rd place with 47 points. In a thrilling encounter, Udinese secured a victory in the Serie A Week 23 clash against Venezia on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy. With this win, Udinese now sits at 29 points, while Venezia remains in a tough spot with 16 points, still in the relegation zone.

After a scoreless first half, the second half erupted with action. Lorenzo Lucca kicked things off in the 47th minute, capitalizing on a moment of distraction from goalkeeper Jesse Joronen to score. Just five minutes later, Sandi Lovric added another goal, bringing the score to 2-0. Venezia fought back, and in the 64th minute, Nicolussi Caviglia struck a stunning free kick from 25 meters, narrowing the gap.

With this goal, Venezia narrows the deficit, thanks to Caviglia’s impressive strike from 25 meters, taking a direct approach from a set piece and outsmarting Sava.

What a dramatic shift! Venezia brought the score to 2-2 in the 78th minute. Christian Gytkjær scored for @VeneziaFC_EN with a left-footed shot from close range right into the center. Fali Candé provided the assist after a corner that Jaka Bijol allowed. Candé sent a cross from the right wing, cleverly flicking the ball backward at the near post, which set up Gytkjær for the easy tap-in. The closing minutes of the match were a delight for the supporters in Friuli, as Venezia secured the equalizer.

Udinese regained the lead in the 84th minute when substitute Iker Bravo found the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. Oumar Solet provided the assist. The second half finally saw the game come alive, thanks to a brilliant individual effort from Solet, who maneuvered past two defenders in the opponent’s box, glanced up, and set up Bravo. With a gentle touch from the outside of his foot, Bravo expertly placed the ball into the far corner.

Udinese has the chance to become just the third team that Venezia has managed to defeat in both Serie A encounters this season since the end of World War II, following Bologna in 2021/22 and Cagliari in 1998/99. At home, Udinese remains unbeaten in their last five matches against Venezia in Serie A, having won the last three (with two draws). The only teams against whom Udinese has played more home games without a loss are Como (10), Piacenza (eight), and Novara (six).

Currently, Venezia is the team against which Udinese has the longest active streak of home victories, standing at three. In a surprising turn of events, Hellas Verona triumphed over Monza with a 1-0 win in Serie A Week 23 on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. This victory allows Verona to move up in the tightly packed standings, while Monza finds itself in a challenging predicament following this defeat.

The situation is becoming increasingly dire for the Brianza team. The only goal of the match came from an unfortunate own goal in the first half, which secured the three points for Verona. After a first half that lacked excitement, the yellow and blues had numerous opportunities to increase their lead in the second half, but Zanetti’s team couldn’t capitalize on them. Monza’s final push proved fruitless, and the match ended with a score of 1-0 in favor of Hellas.

Stats proving that Monza haven’t managed to achieve back-to-back home wins in the league since November 2022, with their last consecutive win coming against Hellas Verona. Napoli defeated Juventus at the Maradona Stadium. This victory is crucial for Napoli as they secure a significant win against a Juventus team that has just faced its first loss of the season. With this win, Napoli now sits at the top of the table with 53 points, while Juventus has slipped to 5th place with only 36 points, trailing Napoli by a hefty 17 points. Ouch!

Inter made a strong statement, signaling that they are still very much in the race for the Scudetto. Inter crushed Lecce at the Via del Mare with a 4-0!  Following Napoli’s victory over Juventus, Inter responded by narrowing the gap to just -3 points, now sitting at 50 points compared to Napoli’s 53. With a game in hand against Fiorentina, Inzaghi’s squad celebrated their third consecutive win across Serie A and the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Lecce faced their second straight defeat in the league, conceding four goals in both matches. They remain at 20 points, just one point above third-from-last Verona, who could potentially surpass them with a win against Venezia tomorrow. Inter’s victory was straightforward, with the team netting two goals in each half. They took an early lead just six minutes in, thanks to Frattesi, who received a perfect assist from Thuram. Although Thuram later missed a clear chance, Inter continued to press.

Torino secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Cagliari, showcasing their dominance throughout the match. Che Adams was in exceptional form, scoring both goals—one in each half—which helped the Granata achieve their third home win of the season. Cagliari, on the other hand, struggled offensively and took a significant step back in their performance.

Milan staged a thrilling comeback scoring two goals in injury time to secure a 3-2 victory against Parma.  Christian Pulisic converted a penalty, while Reijnders and Chukwueze added to the tally.  Parma had initially taken the lead twice with goals from Cancellieri and Delprato. Just think about it! In a historic moment for Serie A, Milan achieved an amazing comeback, scoring two goals after the 90th minute to clinch their first-ever win from behind!  With this win, Milan climbs to 7th place, now tied with Bologna at 34 points, just 2 points behind Juventus with 36 points.  The Rossoneri remain in contention for a Champions League spot. On the other hand, Parma, who aimed for victory, now finds themselves just one point above the relegation zone.

Atalanta triumphed over Como at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium with a score of 2-1. This win brings Atalanta’s points total to 46, placing them 7 points behind the league leaders, Napoli, who have 53 points. Como, on the other hand, remains at 22 points. It was an exciting comeback match filled with twists and turns. Como initially took the lead thanks to Nico Paz, but the second half saw a turnaround as Mateo Retegui scored twice, flipping the score in Atalanta’s favor. Retegui is now the top scorer in Serie A with 16 goals.

Italian Serie A

What a disappointing outcome for Lazio as they fell to Fiorentina at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium. Fiorentina not only took the victory but also secured three crucial points. However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Lazio, as they still hold onto 4th place with 39 points. Fiorentina, on the other hand, climbed to 6th place with 36 points, tying with Juventus. Fiorentina took the lead in the first half with goals from Yacine Adli and Lucas Beltrán. The second half saw Lazio dominating possession, desperately seeking a glimmer of hope. Tensions flared, leading to both coaches being sent off by Referee Rapuano. In stoppage time, Marusic managed to score with a header from a Hyasj assist. Just as the match was about to end, Pedro hit the post in the 98th minute, leaving the home crowd in stunned silence!

Empoli and Bologna ended with a 1-1 draw at the Carlo Castellani Stadium.  Empoli now has 21 points, while Bologna sits at 34 points, maintaining their 6th place in the European zone. All the action took place in the first half: Colombo opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a cross from Pezzella, but Dominguez equalized just before halftime with a volley assisted by Lykogiannis. In the second half, Odgaard (73′) and Beukema (80′) had opportunities to score. In the upcoming round, Empoli will travel to face Juventus, while Bologna will host Como at home.

AS Roma secured an away victory, marking their first win since last April in Udine, bringing their total to 30 points. Meanwhile, Udinese remains at 26 points. In a thrilling match, Roma staged a comeback after the home team initially took the lead against Lucca. However, two penalties in the second half, converted by Pellegrini and Dovbyk, turned the tide in Roma’s favor.
