Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AC Milan, 5th position with 20 points and a positive goal difference of +9
Hellas Verona, 18th position with 5 points and a negative goal difference of -9

AC Milan win the Serie A Week 10 game defeating Hellas Verona on Sunday 16 October 2022 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy. In the standings, Hellas Verona remain at 5 points with the fifth consecutive defeat while Milan climbed from the 5th to 3rd place with 23 points. In the next round, Milan-Monza and Sassuolo-Verona. Milan conquered the Bentegodi thanks to Sandro Tonali’s decisive goal in the final after the first half ended in a draw, due to the own goal by Miguel Veloso and the goal by Gunter. Milan for the first time in its history would collect at least seven wins in the first 10 matches of a Serie A championship for three consecutive seasons (in 2020/21 eight wins in the top 10, in 2021/22 nine wins in the top 10).

Not a good start for Hellas Verona conceding an own goal in the 9th minute. Miguel Veloso gave the lead to Milan. The action started with Olivier Giroud passing to Rafael Leão, who jumps the man and tries to close the triangle with the Frenchman, then, Miguel Veloso deflects in his own goal.

✅  Milan have won five of the last seven Serie A matches against Verona (2N) and have found success in the last three matches against the Venetians in chronological order: they have not won four games in a row in the maximum tournament against the Gialloblu since 1978 -1983.   Verona and Milan did not draw at Bentegodi in Serie A even from 1-1 on 17/12/2000 (goals by Emiliano Bonazzoli and Massimo Ambrosini): in the last eight at home to the Venetians, three wins by the hosts and five Rossoneri, including the last three in chronological order. Four consecutive defeats for Verona in the league: the Venetians have not collected five consecutive KOs in Serie A since May 2018 (seven in that case, a season that ended with the relegation of the team then coached by Pecchia). Milan are the only undefeated away team in Serie A in 2022 (in 13 games nine wins and four draws) and one of the three teams – among those present both in the 2021/22 and in the 2022/23 season – unbeaten away from home in the five major European leagues in this calendar year (Barcelona and Manchester City the other two).

👉 Lineup HELLAS VERONA (3-4-2-1): Montipò; Hien, Günter, Magnani; Faraoni, Tameze, Veloso, Depaoli; Hrustic, Verdi; Henry.

👉 Lineup AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Tătărușanu; Kalulu, Gabbia, Tomori, Hernández; Krunić, Tonali; Díaz, Adli, Leão; Giroud.

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 7th with 15 points and a positive goal difference of +2
Salernitana, 11th position with 10 points and a negative goal difference of -2

Inter win the Serie A Week 10 game against Salernitana on Sunday 16 October 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. Inter take home the 3 points thanks to the goals of Lautaro Martinez and Nicolò Barella and reach 18 points in the standings. Inter is back winning the second match in a row in the league after the one against Sassuolo. For Inzaghi it is the fourth consecutive useful result also counting the challenges with Barcelona in the Champions League. For Salernitana new stop after the victory with Verona.

In the next round, Inter will play the away game against Fiorentina in Florence, while Salernitana will host Spezia.

Inter opened the score in the 13th minute. Argentinean forward Lautaro Martínez defeated Salernitana goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Nicolò Barella. This is a particular goal for Lautaro Martinez because he had not scored in Serie A for 47 days, and had been fasting for eight games (from the match on 30 August, 3-1 at the Cremonese at San Siro). Way to go for Lautaro!

Salernitana unable to react conceded another goal in the 58th minute. “The assist man” Nicolò Barella scored with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Hakan Çalhanoglu.

Image

✅   Stats before the game:  No draw in the previous six Serie A matches between Inter and Salernitana: four wins for the Nerazzurri (including the only two played in the 21st century) and two from Campania. In the last championship, Inter won both matches against Salernitana 5-0, becoming the first team to beat a single opponent by more than 4 goals for two consecutive matches by the same Inter in 1999 against Lecce – never a team has won three straight wins with at least five goals over a single opponent in the history of the competition. Inter are the team that has been waiting for a draw in Serie A for the most rounds, among those present in this league – the Nerazzurri have not impacted in 18 matches: this is their longest streak without X marks since the beginning of the 1950s ( when they arrived at 19). No team has conceded more goals than Inter in the second half of this Serie A: 10 (like Bologna and Verona), the same that the Nerazzurri had collected in the second stages in the first 31 games of last season.

Napoli leading again in the 69th minute. Forward Victor Osimhem scored with a left-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

✅  Stats before the game. In the last nine matches of Napoli at home against Bologna in Serie A there have been seven wins from Campania and only two from Emilia – the draw did not occur from 1-1 on 16 January 2012 (Acquafresca and then Cavani scored on a penalty). Only Milan (64) have collected more points than Napoli (63) since the beginning of 2022 in Serie A: the Campania region boasts the best attack in this calendar year with 61 goals scored (average of 2.18 per match). In the last 13 Serie A matches, Napoli have collected 11 wins and two draws, scoring 35 goals: considering this set, the blue team is the best team in the league both for points won (35 out of 39) and goals scored. It was since 2015/16 (six points in that case) that Bologna had not collected so few points (seven currently) in the first nine games of a Serie A championship and since 2013/14 that they had not won only in one of the first nine. Thiago Motta remained undefeated in both games as a manager at Napoli in Serie A: a 0-0 draw with Genoa in November 2019 and a 1-0 win with Spezia in December 2021 – notably two of his only four clean sheets. obtained away at the helm of top league teams, they arrived against the Azzurri.

👉 Lineup NAPOLI (4-3-3): Meret – Di Lorenzo, Kim, Jesus, Mario Rui – Ndombele, Lobotka, Zielinski – Politano, Raspadori, Kvaratskhelia.

Empoli, 15th position with 8 points and a negative goal difference of -3
Monza, 12th position with 10 points and a negative goal difference of -5

Empoli win the Serie A Week 10 game against Monza on Saturday 15 October 2022 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy.  Palladino’s streak of consecutive victories on the Monza bench stops at three, collecting his first defeat.  Empoli reached 11 points leaving Monza with 10 points. A narrow victory for Empoli thanks to Haas’ goal, brings home three heavy points. A balanced match that saw Monza pushing especially in the final minutes, but the Tuscan defense and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s saves did not collapse the wall. In the last minutes there are protests from Brianza for a penalty not granted to Birindelli and then the red card in the 95th minute to Nicolò Rovella for a shot to Marin with the ball far away.

Empoli scored the only goal of the game in the 11th minute. Nicolas Haas defeated Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio from very close range with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

✅  Stats before the game. Empoli have won only one of the last 11 Serie A matches against Lombard teams, registering nine defeats in the partial: the only success came against Atalanta on May 21st.  Empoli have lost only one of their last eight Serie A matches against newly promoted formations (1-2 v Venice in September 2021) – they complete two wins and five draws in the partial – however, Empoli last clean sheet against teams from the Serie B dates back to December 2016 (2-0 v Cagliari).  In four home games played so far in this championship, Empoli have collected only two points (2D, 2L), their worst result at home after four Serie A games since 2003/04, a season that ended with relegation to Serie B. Monza comes from three consecutive league successes in which they have not conceded any goals: the last newly promoted team to have obtained four clean sheets in a row in Serie A was Bologna in 2016, while the last with four consecutive wins was Juventus in 2008.
