👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Lecce, 14th position with 20 points and a negative goal difference of -4
Salernitana, 16th position with 18 points and a negative goal difference of -14

Salernitana caused an upset and won the Serie A Week 20 game against Lecce on Friday 27 January 2023 at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy.  A good victory for Salernitana reaching 21 points in the standings, one more than Lecce. At the Via del Mare everything happens in the first half played at a very high pace. Boulaye Dia and Tonny Vilhena sign the double guest advantage then Gabriel Strefezza shortens the distances. In the second half, the guests manage to minimize Lecce’s comeback attempts and bring home three points that are worth overtaking today’s opponents in the standings. Nicola’s team regains victory after seven games and breathes again. Second consecutive stop instead for Baroni’s men who now risk seeing their margin on the relegation zone reduced.

In the next round, Lecce will go to Cremona for a fundamental match for salvation, Salernitana will host Juventus at the Arechi. The big challenge for Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa facing some of the winners of Argentina in the World Cup.

Salernitana opened the score in the 5th minute. Boulaye Dia defeated Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Salernitana increased the score in the 20th minute. Tonny Vilhena scored with a left-footed shot to the center.  The assist is by Boulaye Dia.

Lecce shortened the distance in the 23rd minute. Gabriel Strefezza defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Giuseppe Pezzella.

✅  Stats before the game. Lecce won their only previous match in Serie A,  2-1 against Salernitana on 16 September, with a goal from Assan Ceesay, an own goal from Joan González and the winning goal from Gabriel Strefezza. The Apulian teams have won two of the last three matches against those from Campania in Serie A (both successes for Lecce, against Naples and Salernitana – 1 D), as many successes as those they had obtained in the previous 19. After losing their first three Serie A matches played on Fridays between 1994 and 2020, Lecce have remained unbeaten in the two most recent ones: 2-1 against Salernitana and 1-1 against Udinese, both in the group first leg of this championship.  Salernitana have lost their last three away league games and since their return to the top flight, only once have they recorded a longer losing streak: the first four of 2021/22, under Fabrizio Castori.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Spezia, 15th position with 18 points and a negative goal difference of -13
Bologna, 12th position with 23 points and a negative goal difference of -6

Bologna won the Serie A Week 20 game against Spezia on Friday 27 January 2023 at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy.  This is the second consecutive defeat for Spezia, remaining with 18 points.  Bologna’s positive streak continues, with 7 points in the last 3 games.  Surely, this is a deserved victory for Bologna with one goal in each half.  Bologna took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark thanks to a goal by Stefan Posch, and then doubled their lead in the 77th minute, with Orsolini, who exploited a fine assist from Domìnguez.

In the next round, Bologna will play on Fiorentina’s pitch, while Spezia will play on their pitch against Napoli.

✅  Stats before the game: Bologna are unbeaten in five Serie A matches against Spezia (W3, D2), scoring 11 goals against the Ligurians (2.2 on average per match). Although Spezia have scored exactly one goal in each of their two away games against Bologna in Serie A, they have lost in both games at the Dall’Ara (4-1 on 18 April 2021 and 2-1 on 21 February 2022). After the draw in the last round against Cremonese, Bologna could impact two consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since last September, when the second came against Spezia. Bologna have scored in all of their last six Serie A matches played on Fridays (W3, D1, L2): the Emilians have not been without a goal in a league match on this day of the week since February 2016, when they drew 0- 0 against Juventus at the Dall’Ara. Spezia have lost all five Serie A games played on Friday, conceding an average of 3 goals per game (15 total): the Ligurian side is the team that has played a match in the top division most often on this day of the week, always finding the defeat.

Lineup Bologna (4-3-3): Skorupski; Posch, Lucumì, Soumaoro, Cambiaso; Moro, Schouten, Ferguson; Orsolini, Zirkzee, Soriano.

Lineup Spezia (3-5-1-1): Dragowski; Amian, Caldara, Nikolaou; Holm, Bourabia, Ampadu, Kovalenko, Reca; Agudelo; Gyasi.

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 19 RESULTS / Nineteenth Round on Saturday 21, Sunday 22, Monday 23, and Tuesday 24 January 2023.  This is a thriller round seeing Napoli dominating the league reaching 50 points and + 12 points ahead of second-placed AC Milan.  The biggest flop this season are the 2 Milan teams losing their respective games.  AC Milan crushed and humiliated by Lazio with a 4-0 at the Olimpico.  Inter lost the home game defeated by Empoli at the Meazza.  The Italian Football Federation punished Juventus for cheating on players’ transfer values. Juventus punished with a deduction of -15 points stepping down from the 3rd to the 10th position. Ouch!  Though,  Juventus will appeal the decision.
