Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Bologna, 8th position with 44 points and a positive goal difference of +2
Hellas Verona, 18th position with 23 points and a negative goal difference of -19

Hellas Verona are on a sprint race to earn points to dream with salvation.  Verona won the Serie A Week 31 game against Bologna on Friday 21 April 2023 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium, Italy.  Surely, these are three precious points for Verona, who are now hooking up Spezia (who, however, have one game less) in the safety zone. Bentegodi’s victory bears the signature of Simone Verdi, who scores a brace. At the end, in full recovery, Bologna shortened the distance with Nicolás Domínguez, and then come close to equalizing with Orsolini.

On the next day, Verona will visit Cremonese, while Bologna will play at home against Juventus.

Congratulations to Hellas Verona Captain Miguel Veloso making his 100th appearance.

Hellas Verona opened the score before ending the first half. In the 45+6′ minute, forward Simone Verdi defeated Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski by converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Skorupski.

Simone Verdi having a great match scoring a brace. This time Verdi scored with a headed shot to the center. The assist is by Marco Faraoni.

Nicolás Domínguez scored the honor goal for Bologna in the 93rd minute defeating Hellas Verona gaolkeeper Lorenzo Montipò with a right-footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Nicola Sansone.

✅   Stats before the game. Bologna have remained unbeaten in eight of their last nine Serie A matches against Verona (W4, D4) and have always scored at least one goal in the run: in fact, the current series is the longest series of matches scored by the rossoblù against the gialloblù in the competition.  Bologna is the team against which Verona has the lowest percentage of defeats in Serie A (32%), considering the opponents they have faced at least 40 times in the competition (15 KOs in 47 previous ones).  Verona have won only one of their last seven home matches against Bologna in Serie A (D3 L3), 2-1 on 21 January 2022 in the most recent of these meetings (on that occasion Caprari and Kalinic answered the initial advantage signed by Orsolini). Bologna have achieved four wins in their last six Serie A away games (D1 L1), the same number of victories they had recorded in their previous 21 away games in the competition; moreover, in the most recent one he did not concede a goal (2-0 v Atalanta) and could keep two clean sheets away from home in the top flight for the first time since September 2017.  Verona have won only one of the three games played in Serie A on Friday (P2): 2-1, precisely against Bologna on 21 January 2022, with Igor Tudor on the bench.

Italian Soccer Serie A

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 30 RESULTS / Thirtieth Round on Friday 14, Saturday 15, Sunday 16, and Monday 17 April 2023.  Napoli remain the sole leader with 74 points.  The gap between 1st and 2nd place is +14 points because Lazio have 61 points.  Simply put, the Scudetto for Napoli is just around the corner.

Roma are detached in third place, increasing the gap on the fifth in the standings to 5 points. Mourinho’s team remains unbeaten once again (third consecutive match in Serie A, it hasn’t happened since 2017) and is preparing for the sprint that will decide access to the next Champions League (in the next 4 matches they will have to face Milan and Inter at the Olimpico and Atalanta in Bergamo, in addition to Monza).

For the first time Inter have lost three home games in a row without scoring in Serie A.

Cremonese have won two games in a row for the first time in this league: they hadn’t succeeded in Serie A since March 1996 (vs Lazio and Padova) with Luigi Simoni on the bench.

Against Cremonese, Empoli recorded a 68% ball possession percentage, the highest against a single opponent in this Serie A TIM season.

Lazio have collected 61 points in 30 days of this Serie A TIM, only twice in their history (considering three points for a win) have they done better: 62 in 2000/01 and 68 in 2019/20, always finishing in the top four. Lazio have kept clean sheets in all of their last five Serie A TIM away games, equaling their own record in the competition (1998 under Sven Goran Eriksson).

Nicola Sansone equaled Gregoire Defrel as the player who has scored the quickest goal for Milan since the start of a Serie A match since Opta has collected this data (since 2004/05): both scored after just 33 seconds.

Tommaso Pobega scored away in Serie A TIM for the first time since 12 May 2021 (brace against Sampdoria) – all of his next six goals scored in the competition before today had in fact come at home.

Napoli ended a run of 25 straight matches without a draw in Serie A TIM; it was the team in this league that hadn’t drawn a match for the most matches.

Hellas Verona have remained unbeaten in three of their last six Serie A matches against Napoli (W1, D3), after a run of six defeats in a row.

Before Monza, the last team to win their first away match against Inter in Serie A was Chievo in December 2001 (1-2).

The player who covered the most kilometers in the last round was Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (13,664 km). After the Lazio midfielder there are Tommaso Baldanzi from Empoli (13,104 km) and Maxime Lopez from Sassuolo (12,715 km).

Fabiano Parisi was the player who made the most dribbles in the last round of the championship: 9 for the Empoli defender, followed by Nico Gonzalez of Fiorentina with 6 dribbles.

The goalkeeper who made the most saves was Sampdoria goalkeeper Nicola Ravaglia (9), followed by Monza’s Michele di Gregorio and Atalanta’s Marco Sportiello, both on 6 points.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Udinese, 11th position with 39 points and a  positive goal difference of +3
AS Roma, 3rd position with 53 points and a positive goal difference of +13

What a big home victory for Roma to remain in the top 3 positions.  Roma won the Serie A Week 30 game against Udinese on Sunday 16 April 2023 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. The objective is to qualify for the next Champions League. In fact, the missteps of Milan and Inter raise the prices of Roma reaching 56 points, with this victory, they are +5 over Inter with 51 points and +3 over AC Milan with 53 points.

Udinese lost the second consecutive away match 3-0 and remained at 39. For the Giallorossi the next match is Thursday against Feyenoord, hunting for the Europa League semi-final, then there will be the away match in Bergamo in the league, a fundamental match for qualifying for the next Champions League. Udinese will instead be on stage at the Dacia Arena against Cremonese on Sunday 23rd.

Roma opened the score in the 37th minute. Edoardo Bove defeated Udinese goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the center. The goal resulted on the rebound after Bryan Cristante’s penalty hit the post. Bam! Talking about being in the right position at the right time. Well done Edoardo!

Udinese are just unable to react while the Roman gladiators increased the score in the 55th minute. This time it is Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini to take care of business with a right footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Andrea Belotti.

The final nail …. Roma just humiliated Udinese by sealing the game in the 91st minute with a third goal. Forward Tammy Abraham, practically, hanging the sing “the end” scoring with a headed shot to the top left corner.

✅ Stats before the game: Udinese have remained unbeaten in their last two matches against Roma (W1, D1) in Serie A, the same number of times they had succeeded in the previous 17 league games (15 victories from the capital and two from Friuli). Roma have found victory in eight of their last nine home games against Udinese in Serie A (L1). Furthermore, the two teams have not drawn at the Olimpico since March 2009 (1-1 with goals from Felipe and Vucinic): since then, in 13 matches, 11 yellow and red and two black and white victories. Udinese have won just two of their most recent 11 away games in the league (D4, L5), after having recorded three wins in the first four of the current tournament (L1); moreover, the Friulians have failed to score in four of their last seven Serie A away games, but have kept three clean sheets in the run. Roma won eight games in 2023 in Serie A keeping clean sheets, no team did better in the period (eight wins with clean sheets also for Napoli, while Juventus and Lazio follow with seven). On the other hand, the Giallorossi have not won any of their last nine league games in which they have conceded a goal (D4 L5).

👉 Lineup AS ROMA (3-4-2-1):  Rui Patricio – Mancini, Smalling, Llorente – Celik, Cristante, Bove, El Shaarawy – Wijnaldum, Pellegrini – Belotti.

👉 Lineup UDINESE (3-5-1-1):  Silvestri – Becao, Bijol, Perez – Ehizibue, Samardzic, Walace, Lovric, Udogie – Pereyra, Success.
