AC Milan got the job done and won the Serie A Week 31 game on Sunday 23 April 2023 at San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. After two consecutive draws, Milan regained success in Serie A reaching 56 points, overtaking Inter again (now at -2) and momentarily catching up with AS Roma in fourth place, who will face Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium tomorrow at 20:45. Eighth defeat in the last nine games, however, for Lecce, which does not break its fast of victories and remains only two points ahead of the relegation zone.

A goal in each half from Rafael Leão is enough for Milan to beat a rarely dangerous Lecce near Maignan. The first episode of the match came in the 14th minute, when referee Chiffi first awarded and then revoked a penalty for the Rossoneri following a tackle between Baschirotto and Theo Hernandez, judged regular after the on field review. Five minutes later, the Salentini had the biggest chance of their game with Banda, who headed the post from close range following an assist from Gendrey. Pioli’s team reacts and takes the lead in the 40th minute with Leao’s header from Tonali’s cross, an action born from a pattern from a corner kick. In the second half Baroni inserts Strefezza to increase the danger of his team and the number 27 tries to frighten Maignan with a right-footed shot from outside, rejected by the French goalkeeper. Between the 73rd and 74th minute, then, Leao comes on again, who first tries to overtake Falcone with a lob and then scores his personal brace with one of his classic plays: he starts from midfield, runs away from Hjulmand, enters the area, he moves the ball to the right and crosses with his left foot, scoring the final 2-0 for the Rossoneri.

Forward Rafael Leão opened the score defeating Lecce goalkeeper jumping high enough for the headed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Sandro Tonali following a corner conceded by Valentin Gendrey.

✅ Stats before the game: Milan have only lost in two of their 33 Serie A matches against Lecce (W19, D12), the last of which dated April 1, 2006 (1-0 in Salento with Konan’s goal) – five wins in nine matches since then Rossoneri and four draws. Since the 1999/2000 season Lecce – 2-2 in the first leg at the Via del Mare – has not remained unbeaten in both matches of a Serie A championship against Milan; in that case there was a double 2-2 between Zaccheroni’s formation and that of Cavasin. Lecce’s only victory in 16 previous Serie A matches away to Milan dates back to 19 October 1997 (1-2 with goals from Govedarica and Casale from penalties): the Rossoneri won 12 of these 16 matches (D3), but in last time they drew (2-2 in October 2019). Milan have drawn in the last two league matches played after a Champions League round and in general they have drawn in three of the last five Serie A matches (W1, L1), as many draws as those accumulated in the previous 21 matches in the competition.

Fiorentina are out of the European zone and few more weeks to conquer points.  Monza overturned the result and win the Serie A Week 31 game on Sunday 23 April 2023 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. The victory helped Monza climb to the twelfth position with 41 points, one less than Fiorentina. For the first time in Serie A, Monza won a comeback game: down 2-0 after 13 minutes, the red and white beat Fiorentina 3-2 with a fantastic performance, achieving their second consecutive success after the San Siro feat.

Fiorentina opened the score in the 9th minute. Christian Kouamé defeated Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Cristiano Biraghi following a corner conceded by Andrea Colpani.

Riccardo Saponara double the score with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Christian Kouamé.

Monza shortened the distance thanks to the own goal by Cristiano Biraghi in the 26th minute.

Monza equalized for the 2-2 in the 43rd minute with the goal by Dany Mota wcoring with a right-footed shot to the center.

Monza took the lead in the 58th minute. Captain Matteo Pessina converted a penalty with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty is conceded by Sofyan Amrabat

✅ Stats before the game:  It’s been since October (series of three matches in that case) that Monza hasn’t managed to win two games in a row in Serie A: Palladino’s team – who finished with a clean sheet against Inter in the last round – have not managed two clean sheets in a row always from that three-match series in October. Fiorentina have won their last three away league matches without conceding any goals: the Viola team have not achieved four away wins in a row in Serie A in the same season since May 2013 (with Montella on the bench) and have never won in history four consecutive away games in the competition without conceding a goal. Monza have obtained 38 points so far: in the first 30 days of a Serie A championship only two absolute debutants have reached at least this figure in the era of three points for a win, Reggina 1999/2000 (39) and Chievo Verona 2001/ 02 (47).
