Torino, 14th position with 9 points and a negative goal difference of -3

Inter determined to recover the 1st position won the Serie A Week 9 game against Torino on Saturday 21 October 2023 at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium in Turin, Italy. Surely, this is an important victory for Inter reaching 22 points while waiting for tomorrow’s big match between AC Milan  (21 points) and Juventus! If Milan defeat Juventus, Milan will take back the 1st position. The duel is on.  Moreover, Inter with doble celebration because Lautaro Martínez remain the sole top scorer with 11 goals.

In the second half, the Nerazzurri broke the deadlock with Marcus Thuram converting Dumfries’ low cross into a goal. Lautaro Martínez, who had been seen little until then, doubled the lead on a corner by taking advantage of Acerbi’s spark and in the final there was also a trio from Hakan Çalhanoglu who converted a penalty earned by Mhikitaryan.

Torino’s negative period continues, having reached their fourth consecutive match without scoring.

It’s the moment for Inter opening the score in the 60th minute. Marcus Thuram scored with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Denzel Dumfries.

Lautaro Martínez scored in the 67th minute from very close range with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The headed assist is by Francesco Acerbi following a corner conceded by Raoul Bellanova.

Hakan Çalhanoglu sealed the victory in the 95th minute converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Ivan Ilic.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Fiorentina, 5th position with 14 points and a positive goal difference of +5
Napoli, 4th position with 14 points and a positive goal difference of +10

Napoli collapsed losing the Serie A Week 8 game on Sunday 8 October 2023 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Napoli, Italy. Fiorentina now claimed full 3 points and reached 17 points thanks to goals from Josip Brekalo, Giacomo Bonaventura and Nicolás González, in a match that also featured the woodwork of Quarta and Ikone. Fiorentina caught Juventus in third place.

The bad news is that Napoli suffered a second home defeat, aggressive but lacking clarity. Victor Osimhen’s penalty is not enough, the blue attacker wastes one-on-one with Terracciano with the result still tied.

Previously, Napoli and Fiorentina were tied on 14 points, both unbeaten in four rounds of the championship and with the objective of third place – catching Juventus – within reach of victory.

After the break for the national teams, the ninth day of the championship will see Garcia’s team visit Verona while the Italian boys are expected in the derby with Empoli.

Fiorentina with a fast start opened the score in the 7th minute. Josip Brekalo defeated Napoli goalkeeper with a left-footed shot to the center.

Napoli equalized before ending the first half in the 45+4 minute. Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano by converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty is conceded by Terracciano.

Fiorentina took the lead again in the 63rd minute. Giacomo Bonaventura scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner.

In the 77th minute, Coach Garcia decided to replace Victor Osimhen which was not seen as a good move by the fans. Giovanni Simeone took his place.

Fiorentina sealed the victory in the 93rd minute: Nicolás González scored with a right-footed shot from to the top right corner. The assist is by Fabiano Parisi.

✅   Stats before the game: Fiorentina have won only one of their last six Serie A matches against Napoli (1N, 4L): 3-2 on 10 April 2022, with goals from Nicolás González, Jonathan Ikoné and Arthur Cabral. Napoli have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six home games against Fiorentina in Serie A, although they have been defeated twice in the period (W3, D1): on 18 January 2020 and 10 April 2022.  Napoli are unbeaten in 15 matches against Fiorentina in the first round of Serie A (10W, 5D). The last defeat of the Neapolitans in this part dates back to 31 October 2007, 0-1 with a goal from Christian Vieri. Fiorentina remained unbeaten in four of their last six matches against the Serie A title holders, a period in which they achieved two successes (against Juventus in December 2020 and against Milan in March 2023) and two draws (against Juventus in April 2021 and against Inter in March 2022). After the 4-1 against Udinese and the 4-0 against Lecce, Napoli can score more than three goals in three consecutive matches in Serie A for the third time in their history, after having achieved it in October 1957 and in May 2017. Fiorentina have gained 14 points in the first seven matches of this championship: only on two occasions in the three points per win era have they reached at least 17 in the first eight matches of a Serie A season, in 1998/99 and 2015 /16 (18 on both occasions).

👉 Lineup NAPOLI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Ostigard, Natan, Olivera; Zambo Anguissa, Lobotka, Zielinski; Politano, Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia.

👉 Lineup FIORENTINA (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Kayode, Milenkovic, Quarta, Parisi; Arthur, Duncan; Ikone, Bonaventura, Brekalo; Nzola.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Cagliari, 20th position with 2 points and a negative goal difference of -10
AS Roma, 13th position with 8 points and a positive goal difference of +4

Cagliari collapsed and lost the Serie A Week 8 game on Sunday 8 October 2023 at the Sardegna Arena in Cagliari, Italy. Roma got their second consecutive victory after beating Cagliari led by a great Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, author of a great brace. After Houssem Aouar’s initial goal, the Belgian first beat Scuffet with the chest from close range. Andrea Belotti’s hat-trick validated by VAR. Lukaku took advantage of Paredes’ assist to seal the evening’s poker. Cagliari found the net on a penalty with Nandez, but it wasn’t enough to avoid their sixth defeat of the season.

Roma opened the score in the 19th minute. Houssem Aouar defeated Cagliari goalkeeper with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Leonardo Spinazzola.

Just a minute following the goal by Aouar, there it is in the 20th minute another goal. Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku scored from very close range to the top left corner. The assist is by Rick Karsdorp

Bad news for Mourinho. Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala is injured and replaced in the 40th minute by Andrea Belotti.

Roma just having a ride. In the 50th minute, forward Andrea Belotti scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Leandro Paredes. The goal validated after VAR Review.

Chaos for Cagliari! Roma with a poker in the 59th minute. Romelu Lukaku scored a brace with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Leandro Paredes.

Cagliari have their honor goal in the 87th minute.  Nahitan Nández converted a penalty with a right-footed shot to the high center. The penalty is conceded by Bryan Cristante following a handball in the penalty area.

Stats before the game: Cagliari have won only one of their last 16 league games against Roma (D4, L11), 3-2 on 25 April 2021 with Leonardo Semplici on the bench (with goals from Charalampos Lykogiannis, Razvan Marin and João Pedro). Roma have won six of their last nine Serie A away matches against Cagliari (D2, L1), after having failed to achieve success in the previous 11 (D4, L7). After a 0-0 draw on 25 November 2013, Roma found the back of the net in each of their next 15 Serie A matches against the Sardinians and only against Lecce (20) and Venezia (19) did they boast an open run of matches consecutive with at least one goal scored in the competition – in the half the Giallorossi scored a total of 30 goals, for an average of exactly two per match. For the first time in its history Cagliari has gained just two points in the first seven games of a Serie A season; in the previous four top championships, only two teams did not reach the three-point threshold after the first eight matches: Crotone 2020/21 and Sampdoria 2022/23, both relegated at the end of the tournament. Roma have not won any of their last seven away games in the championship (D3, L4), the last time they played more away games without winning in the competition was in 2000 (11).

👉 Lineup CAGLIARI (3-5-2): Scuffet; Hatzidiakos, Obert, Wieteska; Nandez, Makaoumbou, Prati, Sulemana, Azzi; Oristanio, Petagna.
