Good morning my friends.  It is my wish you are doing ok and have a happy Friday. Oh yeah!  I am gaining back my energies after the Italian National team returned from Brazil eliminated and back in Italy.  It’s sad to see, and it is understandable, that only few fans went to Malpensa Airport to welcome the Azzurri.  The disappointment is high and frustration for the elimination still fresh among fans.

The news gaining front pages is about FIFA disciplinary commission giving their sentence to Uruguay forward Luis Suarez after biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.  I must tell you I agree with the decision giving Suarez a ban of 9 games and stop of any football related activity for four months.   Do you agree?   Here is the point, this the 3rd time that Suarez bites a player and some even consider the sentence not that strong.

I love the headline from  La Gazzetta dello Sport survey on the top 4 candidates to replace Head Coach Cesare Prandelli who resigned after the elimination.   Candidates are Massimiliano Allegri, Roberto Mancini, Francesco Guidolin, and Luciano Spalletti.

Ok, there is good news making me jump out of joy. It is about Juventus midfiedler Andrea Pirlo, who initially would have retired from the national team, now Pirlo taking the decision to be back in case of the future coach needed him.  Thats great!!!  Italy are in the rebuild and a guidance by Pirlo is fundamental for the future leaders in the midfield.   Your take?

The case, the national team returned yesterday amongst general indifference at Malpensa and Fiumicino.
Balo asks for forgiveness from to Prandelli
Raiola: “Embarrassing to accuse him.”
“Football has died in this country. Mario has AC Milan in his heart,Barbara Berlusconi I don’t know.”

Toto coach, meanwhile the visitors on Gazzetta.it vote for the ex-Inter coach.
A seat for four. Allegri, Mancini, Guidolin and Spalletti in the race to be the coach. Each of them have an idea for their Italy in their head. Tavecchio or Albertini for the FIGC.

  • Allegri 35%. He is the name that is well liked amongt the Azzurri. He has already said he would be willing to cut his salary. His formation is the 4-3-3 that could highlight some young talent. And plus he can deal with Balotelli.
  • Mancini 30%. Formation 4-3-1-2. He has more international experience (City and Gala). His candidature is also liked by the president of CONI, Malago. His passed with Balo in good and bad.
  • Guidolin 30%. Formation 3-5-2. On the rise after the words of Tavecchio. He could be the right man to refund the “low cost” cantera and he has an optimum experience to teach youngsters.
  • Spalletti 5%. Formation 4-3-2-1. His teams play great football. What is stopping him is his sometimes difficult character. He has high wages and must still find a sponsor who is convinced.
Outsider: the coach of the Under 21 Luigi Di Biagio.

The time has come to change everything: here are five fundamental points.
Throw football away!

  1. Serie A with 18 clubs to give space to the national team.
  2. Secure stadiums and hospitality to bring the fans back in masses.
  3. Give value to the youth teams: young players are needed to restart.
  4. Too many foreigners even of modest skills level hurts us.
  5. The stars should go to schools to involve the youngsters.

Best and worst Italy forwards in the 2014 World Cup? Balotelli, Cassano, Immobile, Cerci, or Insigne…

Here are the forwards called up by Italy Head Coach Cesare Prandelli for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.  Who failed? Best forward? Worst forward?   Come on guys, this is the most disappointing area.  I don’t have a good vote for a specific forward.  I expected way more from all of them, especially the couple Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano, and you?

Simply put, the much-hyped dynamic duo Balotelli-Cassano did not work at all.  The expected goals machine failed.  Here is the crude reality.  Italy scoring just 2 goals in the entire World Cup.  Are you kidding me? BAM! Total failure.  Oh yeah, big time, total failure!  Your take….

Let me tell you, here I would have loved to see Hellas Verona forward Luca Toni battling with all his hunger for goals and desire to be with the Azzurri.  Sadly, Prandelli did not consider him despite being the 2nd top scorer in the Serie A with 20 goals, but picked up Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne who had scored only 3 goals in the season.   I said this before and stand for Toni.  Is not the job of a forward to score goals? Hello… so, Toni would have been in this list!   What a slap for Prandelli!

Bad thing is that Prandelli not trusting neither Torino forward Ciro Immobile the top scorer of the Serie A with 22 goals until the last game using him in the lineup…. but maybe it was already too late.   Bottom line, guys, Balotelli had scored 14 goals in the league and Cassano 12.   Simple math….   Insigne is the future, but was not ready for this World Cup.  Oh well… move on.

Forwards / Attaccanti: Mario Balotelli (Milan), Antonio Cassano (Parma), Alessio Cerci (Torino), Ciro Immobile (Torino), Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli).
