Champions League: Manchester City on the road to Turin

Manchester City’s trip to Turin is their 10th away day in all competitions this term. Juventus.com looks at their previous nine
A perfect start

Manuel Pellegrini’s men got their season off to the best possible start with triumphs at West Brom (3-0), Everton (2-0) and Crystal Palace (1-0) featuring in their five-match winning run in August and early September.

In the first of those victories, the tried and tested midfield partnership of Yaya Toure and David Silva ran riot at The Hawthorns.

The Ivorian’s power and energy combined with the Spaniard’s movement and eye for a pass created havoc in West Brom’s ranks, as the deadly duo netted one apiece to build a commanding 2-0 lead after only 24 minutes, to which captain Vincent Kompany added a third just shy of the hour mark.

Next up was a trip to Goodison Park, where goals by Aleksander Kolarov and Samir Nasri wrapped up all three points. Although he did not score, the match witnessed the rise onto the City scene for summer signing Raheem Sterling, who set up Kolarov’s opening strike and posed a constant threat up front with his pace.

The third of this trio of victories would certainly be the hardest-fought, with Crystal Palace also making a strong start to the campaign, and an injury-time winner by teenager Kelechi Iheanacho would be required to make sure of the spoils.

Hello my friends. Here are the results for the Serie A Week 13 – Thirteenth Round on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2015.

We have a new leader in the Serie A!   Inter are the sole leaders reaching 30 points.  Inter jumped from the 2nd position to the 1st after defeating Frosinone with a crushing victory of 4-0.

Bad news is for Fiorentina because they lost the first position after ending with a 2-2 draw against Empoli.  Fiorentina went down to the 3rd position sharing 28 points with Napoli.   However, Napoli jump  from the 4th position to take the 2nd position because of goal difference having +16 compared to Fiorentina with +15.  Napoli defeated Hellas Verona at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium with a 2-0 result.

Good news is for Juventus gaining momentum after defeating AC Milan at the Juventus Stadium.  It’s a great victory for the ex AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri defeating Milan to give Juventus the much needed 3 points to start climbing the Serie A Table towards the top 5 positions where it really counts.   A blow for Milan down to the 7th position with 20 points while Juventus jumped to the 6th position with 21 points.

Status quo in the relegation zone not changing.  We still see Frosinone, Hellas Verona, and Carpi in danger. All three losing their respective games, surely, not a good way to celebrate the Holidays.

The top scorer up to Round 13:  Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain with 10 goals

Juventus:Mauro Camoranesi launches J-Academy in Guatemala

Bianconeri legend Mauro German Camoranesi heads the launch of the first Juventus Academy in Guatemala

As of Thursday 19 November, Juventus is making its mark also in Guatemala City, where club legend Mauro German Camoranesi headed the opening of the country’s first Bianconeri soccer school, which, run in cooperation with Global Sports Corporation, will give over 100 children the opportunity to play and relish the game of football.

Speaking at the opening event at the Club Italia of Guatemala City, the former winger said: “I’m honoured to have been asked to come here and represent Juventus at this official Academy launch.”

All aspects of the new Academy fall in line with the standards set by the Bianconeri in its various soccer schools in Italy and across the world: the children train with the same objectives and values in mind.

“The opening of this project represents an important step forward in developing the footballing and, more generally, sporting culture in the country,” said Christopher Prentice, the British Ambassador to Italy who is overseeing the initiative.

During his stay in Guatemala, Camoranesi also paid a visit to Fundaninos children’s home, where he shared his experience as a Juventus player to 50 youngsters up to the age of 17 and took to the pitch for a brief game of football.

The Academy in Guatemala City reinforces Juventus’ presence in South America after already running a school in Peru and numerous activities in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Paraguay.

youth_academy:Under 15s seal fourth straight win

Davide Cei’s young guns secure a fourth successive victory by beating Alessandria 2-1 on Sunday in Vinovo

Following wins for Massimiliano Allegri’s men and Fabio Grosso’s Primavera on Saturday, Davide Cei’s Under 15s made it a perfect weekend for the club by seeing off Alessandria 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Vinovo.

The hosts had to come from behind after conceding in the 19th minute and Ibrahima Diallo would be the star of the show, the forward finding an almost immediate equaliser at the midway point of the first half before netting a 69th minute winner, his sixth strike of a fruitful season so far.

The victory sees Cei’s young guns move up to 17 points, 12 of which have been garnered from their last four league outings. They will look to continue their fine form with a positive result away to high-flying Sampdoria next Sunday.

uefa_cl:City preparations take flight in Vinovo

The Bianconeri get back to work on the training ground as the countdown to Wednesday’s Champions League tie begins

Fresh from last night’s Serie A success over Milan, Massimiliano Allegri welcomed his troops back to Vinovo to begin preparations for Wednesday evening’s Champions League tie with Manchester City.

Those who featured in yesterday’s triumph against the Rossoneri underwent a warm-down, while for the remainder of the squad it was business as usual during a mixed workout on the Juventus Center training pitches.

Four players missed out on the session. Patrice Evra suffered a light twisted ankle during last night’s game with Milan and his condition will be monitored over the course of the coming days.

Also on the sidelines was Hernanes, who reported discomfort in his adductor muscle and will undergo tests tomorrow. Meanwhile, Sami Khedira is still feeling the effects of a muscle injury sustained before the international break, meaning he will train separately next week.

Finally, Martin Caceres’ condition will continue to be assessed on a daily basis as he bids to shake off a thigh strain.
