Hello my friends. Here are the Serie A Week 8 Results – Roundup, Eighth Round on Saturday 15, Sunday 16, and Monday 17 October 2016. There are no change in the leadership. Juventus continue as sole leader of the Serie A with 21 point and a positive goal difference of +12.
We have a change as far as the second position. Yep. Napoli losing the second position after being defeated at the San Paolo Stadium. AS Roma causing the upset and humiliated Napoli. Incredible so, a big fall. Napoli remaining with 14 points went down from the 2nd to the 6th position!!! Talking about a painful defeat. Napoli 1- 3 AS Roma. This victory sees AS Roma jumping from the 3rd to the 2nd position with 16 points. Napoli will have a chance to recover next week if they defeat Crotone at the Adriatico Stadium.
Another surprise in the top 3 positions is seeing AC Milan jumping from the 6th to the 3rd position after defeating Chievo Verona at the Marc’Antonio Stadium. Bam! Surely, we expect a thriller game next week with AC Milan challenging Juventus at the San Siro Stadium. You bet, AC Milan will look to defeat “Goliath” to gain momentum.
A sad result is that at the Renzo Barbera Stadium with Palermo celebrating their 1,000 game in Serie A. Tough celebration because it was ruined after Torino defeated Palermo remaining with 6 points down to the 18th position. Torino climbing to the 4th position with 14 points. Palermo 1 – 4 Torino
A sour highlight in this round was the “Mauro Icardi Scandal.” Imagine, the Curva Nord (Inter fans) contesting Icardi by displaying a long banner before the game and whistling, booing almost every time he touched the ball.
Inter lost the match against Cagliari at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and went down to the 11th position. Cagliari went up to the 13th position.
The cry for salvation is still unheard for Crotone! Crotone who were promoted from Serie B is the only team without winning this season!!!! Sassuolo defeated Crotone and remained in the last position with just 1 point. OUCH.
The top scorer of the Serie A: AS Roma forward Edin Dzeko with 7 goals

Inter fans against Inter captain Mauro Icardi showing their disappointment by displaying a big banner before the game Inter vs Cagliari on Sunday 16 October 2016 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. Inter 1 – 2 Cagliari.
Inter fans contesting Icardi during the match with whistles, boos… The Curva Nord displayed a banner to Icardi saying, “Usi un bambino per giustificarti e tirarci fango in faccia. Non sei uomo. Non sei capitano. Sei solo una vile m…” (Eng. translation: You use a child to justify yourself and get us mud in the face. You are not a man. You are not a Captain. You are just a vile m… [coward].”
An ironic response showed also during the game when Icardi failed to convert a penalty against Cagliari in the 24th minute. Inter fans instead of being sad, they gave a cheered response, applauding when Icardi failed. In sum, big trouble for Icardi and the fans.
Here is the situation. The Curva Nord (Inter fans) were upset following the presentation of Mauro Icardis’ book “Sempre Avanti.” Icardi narrated an episode when he confronted an Ultra leader after he had taken a shirt from a child’s hand to throw it back at Icardi after losing to Sassuolo 1-3. According to Icardi, he gained popularity with his teammates as a result of this action. However, according to the Curva Nord, they are just lies. The Curva Nord sustains that Icardi invented this episode that just never happened.

The Curva Nord published a statement to Icardi on their website in the morning before the game against Cagliari to express clearly their disappointment. Click here to view the complete statement in Italian on The Curva Nord website.. Summarizing some of the points: “Icardi, as far as we are concerned, you’re finished. Why such filthy lies? We are horrified, that book is ridiculous and with regards to that incident there are only lies.
Icardi, unfortunately, does not know what is respect. In his mind, evidently, something turns backwards. Now how do we do? How do we behave? It would perhaps be more comfortable to laugh about it, we should cry, for sure we can not pretend nothing happened. An individual like this does not deserve the captain’s armband.”

Total failure for Inter. Inter suffering their first lost at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium this season. Before the game, Inter with 11 points was only +1 point ahead of Cagliari having 10 points. Now, Cagliari overtaking Inter and climbing to 13 points. Interesting to see in this game both coaches debuting in Serie A this season, Inter coach Franck De Boer and Caglairi coach Massimo Rastelli.
Oops… what a luck!!!! Imagine what a tough situation for Inter captain Mauro Icardi who had been contested before the game and almost every time he touches the ball. The Curva Nord displaying big banners against Icardi. “Usi un bambino per giustificarti e tirarci fango in faccia. Non sei uomo. Non sei capitano. Sei solo una vile m…” (Eng. translation: You use a child to justify yourself and get us mud in the face. You are not a man. You are not a Captain. You are just a vile m… [coward].”

Making matters worst, Icardi had the chance to open the score when Referee Valeri gave a penalty to Inter in the 24th minute conceded by Bruno Alves after a foul on Icardi. Alves also getting a yellow card. Adding despair…. it is Icardi to go to the penalty spot and mamma mia…. failing to convert the penalty !!!!!!! It could be that Icardi was not concentrated and succumbed to the constant protests of the fans from the first minute of the match.
Inter finally opening the score in the 55th minute. It is Brazilian João Mário to defeat Cagliari goalkeeper Marco Storari with a right footed shot in the center. This is the first goal by Mario with Inter.
Cagliari equalizing in the 71st minute. It is forward Federico Melchiorri to defeat Inter goalkeeper with a left footed shot in the center.
Oops…. definitely a bad day for Inter. Imaging, Cagliari taking the lead thanks to the own goal by Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic in the 85th minute.
There are 36 precedents between Inter vs Cagliari at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. Stats showing Inter with 21 wins, 9 draws, and Cagliari with only 6 wins. Inter scoring 69 goals and Cagliari 38 goals.
