Inter Milan defeated Urawa Red Diamonds in the Group Stage of the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Lumen Field in Seattle.  In the final fifteen minutes, Inter managed to turn the tide of a match that was beginning to feel dramatic for Chivu’s team. Following a disappointing draw in their first game against Monterrey from Mexico, Chivu’s squad in Seattle faced a tough battle against the Japanese team, Urawa Reds.

Let’s be honest, the Nerazzurri played poorly for 75 minutes. They were trailing by a goal (Watanabe scored in the 12th minute) and their morale was low. However, hope emerged for the Nerazzurri when captain Lautaro Martinez stepped up with a stunning goal in the 77th minute, marking his second goal in this Club World Cup.

The match reached its climax in the frantic final moments, specifically in the 92nd minute, when young Argentine striker Carboni scored with his weaker right foot, securing three vital points. Now, Inter faces their final group challenge against River Plate, a match that promises to be significantly more difficult.

Urawa Red Diamonds have not been performing at their best, as they head into this game after suffering a loss to River Plate last Tuesday. Their defense has been shaky, allowing goals in their last four away games consecutively. The challenge is set for both teams.

The game …

Not the best beginning! In the 11th minute, Urawa Red Diamonds went ahead. Ryoma Watanabe netted a goal with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The assist came from Takuro Kaneko. Carlos Augusto made an error on the right, leading to Kaneko’s low cross into the center, and Watanabe’s finish slipped under Darmian’s legs before outsmarting the helpless goalkeeper Yann Sommer!

Inter leveled the score in the 78th minute, making it 1-1. Lautaro Martínez found the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom left corner. The assist came from Nicolò Barella, who delivered a cross after a corner given away by Hirokazu Ishihara. What a fantastic goal from the Inter captain! It was a technically challenging move that helped the Nerazzurri restore balance to the game.

What an incredible comeback! In the 92nd minute, Inter turned the game around to secure the win. Valentín Carboni for @Inter_en scored with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner. The assist came from Francesco Pio Esposito. Just an amazing goal for Inter to take the lead in injury time! There was some chaotic action in the Japanese area, and a rebound set up Carboni to score with his right foot.

What an exhilarating matchup! On Friday, June 20, 2025, Bayern Munich triumphed over Boca Juniors in the Group Stage of the FIFA Club World Cup at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Bayern Munich has now progressed to the knockout stages of the Club World Cup.

It’s all positive news for the German champions, as Bayern secured their second win in Group C. With 6 points, Bayern has advanced to the round of 16 with a game remaining.

Olise clinched the victory after Miguel Merentiel had put Boca in a position to equalize with a stunning solo goal in the 66th minute.

Bayern, leading the group, took the initiative with Harry Kane’s precise finish in the 18th minute and went on to squander several opportunities before Merentiel’s equalizer.

However, the victory came with a downside. Star German midfielder Jamal Musiala left the game injured just 25 minutes after coming on replacing in the 57th minute Serge Gnabry.  Sadly, Musiala was replaced in the 82nd minute by Thomas Müller. The specifics of his injury were not immediately clear. The 22-year-old had been recovering from a torn hamstring during the Bundesliga season.

Boca Juniors still have a shot at advancing, but they must defeat Auckland City on Tuesday and hope Benfica loses to Bayern on the same day.

Stats before the game

Bayern Munich is on a strong streak, having recently triumphed over Auckland City, Hoffenheim, and Borussia Monchengladbach, extending their unbeaten run to eight games. Their spirits are high following a historic 10-0 victory against Auckland City!

In contrast, Boca Juniors comes into this match after a defeat to Independiente in the Liga Profesional Play Offs on May 19. Their defense has been inconsistent, allowing goals in their last four away games consecutively.
