Italy Head Coach Roberto Mancini called up 31 players for their final two tests of 2022 with friendly games against Albania on 16 November at 20:45 CET, at Air Albania stadium in Tirana. This game will mark the 400th game in Italy’s history (194 wins, 115 draws, and 90 losses). The second game will be against Austria on 20 November at 20.45 CET, at Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna.
As reported by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), players will meet up at Coverciano on Sunday 13 November. There is a first senior call-up for 16-year-old Udinese forward Simone Pafundi, and for Juventus midfielders Nicolò Fagioli (2001-born) and Fabio Miretti (2003-born). All three had already been selected by Mancini earlier in the year in a special training camp dedicated to identify young and upcoming talent in the country. Back after a year since his last call-up is Federico Chiesa, who has just returned to fitness after his left-knee cruciate ligament injury sustained last January.

🇮🇹 👉 Backgroud for the games against Albania and Austria
ALBANIA VS. ITALY. Italy and Albania have previously met on only three occasions, all of them in recent times. The first game was back in 2014 in a friendly in Genova that the Azzurri won 1-0, before two clashes in the 2018 World Cup qualification stage, with Italy winning both games in Palermo and Scutari (it was the 800th game for Italy at all levels). In the dugout for Albania will be Edy Reja, the fourth Italian in the Albanian hot-seat in four meetings (two times with De Biasi, one Panucci). In total, there have been 17 games between Italy and an Italian Head Coach on the opposing side (Trappatoni four times, the only one to beat us, and Ghedin), with 14 wins for the Azzurri, two draws and a defeat. In Italy’s first-ever visit to Albania in 2017, they won 1-0 in Scutari, as the Air Albania Stadium was being re-constructed at the time; it will be the first time they will have played in Tirana.
AUSTRIA VS. ITALY. Italy and Austria have faced each other 38 times: Italy have won 18 times, drawn eight and lost twelve, but with less goals scored (51 to 57). Italy was only able to get their first win against Austria back in 1931, after previously drawing four and losing six of the opening ten games between the sides. From 1962 onwards, things got rather better for the Azzurri as they conjured up eleven wins and three draws, remaining unbeaten to this day, 62 years in total. The last defeat came in December 1960 in a 2-1 loss in Naples. The last meeting between the two was in the round of 16 at Euro 2020, at Wembley, won 2-1 in extra-time (in that game, Austria finally broke their duck after not scoring against Italy for 1,168 minutes). This time around, it will be the Azzurri’s 15th outing in Vienna: the previous 14 were all against Austria bar one, that was against Spain at Euro 2008; their record is five wins, three draws and six losses (12/18 goals for/against). The Azzurri haven’t conceded in Vienna in their last three games (the last goal was in 1970), and are unbeaten in seven (last loss was in 1958).

⚽️ Serie A Top Scorer up to Week 15 (Updated on Sunday 13 November 2022)
Napoli reassured their leadership by defeating Udinese at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Napoli reached 41 points in the standings. Udinese, on the other hand, remains at 24, putting in the seventh game in a row without success. This is the eleventh consecutive victory for Napoli which then closes 2022 at the top of the Serie A standings. Spalletti’s men, after the 2-0 in the first fraction, round up with Elmas at the start of the second but then risk suffering the return of Udinese. Nestorovski and Samardzic bring the Bianconeri back to the side who, in the final, are no longer able to become dangerous in Meret’s side. In the next round, Napoli will be a guest of Inter while Udinese will wait for Empoli at the Dacia Arena.
AC Milan with a thriller victory defeating Fiorentina in San Siro Stadium. Milan won three precious points reaching 33 points so as not to lose further ground from Napoli with 41 points in the 1st position. Milan’s success comes in the 92nd minute thanks to an own goal by Milenkovic and an out-of-time exit from goalkeeper Terracciano. Fiorentina leaves San Siro with a bitter taste after an excellent performance and some uncapitalized goal chances in the second half. Fiorentina interrupts the streak of three consecutive victories and remains at 19. In the next round, Milan will face Salernitana away while Fiorentina will play at home against Monza.
Empoli closed 2022 by defeating Cremonese at the Carlo Castellani Stadium. Important victory for Empoli who, thanks to the three points earned today, climb to twelfth place in the standings, overtaking Bologna and Sassuolo, on the pitch tomorrow evening in the Emilian derby. The Cremonese, on the other hand, returns to lose after three consecutive draws, collecting the eighth knockout of her championship and ending 2022 without ever having won in Serie A.
Lecce caused an upset defeating Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. An impressive away victory for Lecce because they return to win in Genoa against Sampdoria since the 2010-11 season. Lecce reached 15 points while Sampdoria remain in the relegation zone with 6 points, the fifth consecutive home defeat, and the fourth ever. The Giallorossi thus repeat last day’s success against Atalanta. The victory thanks to the goals of Lorenzo Colombo and Lameck Banda. In the next round, Sampdoria will play the away game against Sassuolo, while Lecce will host Lazio on their pitch.
Bologna won the Emilian Derby defeating Sassuolo at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium. Bologna come from three positive internal results, Sassuolo from three away defeats in a row. In the next round, after the World Cup break, Bologna will start the year at Roma’s home while Sassuolo will host Sampdoria.
Inter defeated Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. Inter reached 30 points while Atalanta remained with 27 points. Match that unlocks in the 25th, thanks to the penalty scored by Ademola Lookman, after De Vrij’s foul in the area on Zapata. Inter equalized the scores in the 36th with Edin Džeko. In the second half, two own goals gave Inter the lead. In the next round, Inter will play at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium against Napoli the leaders with 41 points, while Atalanta will play the away game against Spezia.

Empoli closed 2022 by winning the Serie A Week 15 game against Cremonese on Friday 11 November 2022 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy.
Empoli achieve the home victory by capitalizing on the few opportunities created. In the first half, in fact, it is Cremonese with chances to score several times with Buonaiuto, but goalkeeper Vicario opposes two conclusions. In the second half, Empoli took the lead after 16 seconds with Nicolò Cambiaghi who, entered the field after the interval, steals a ball inside the area, jumps Aiwu and beats Carnesecchi from close range.
Cremonese reacted and Vicario was still decisive, first on Sernicola’s blow and then coming out on Okereke’s feet. Zanetti’s team hits a post from Fuori with Marin and in the 87th minute closes the game with Parisi who heads in the net with a ball raised centimeters from the goal by the great save by Carnesecchi on Cambiaghi. In full recovery, Dessers tries to shorten the distance, but hits the wood from inside the area.
Empoli opened the score in the 46th minute. Nicolò Cambiaghi defeated Cremonese goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner.
