Napoli win their 5th consecutive game in Serie A.  Napoli win the Serie A Week 5 game defeating Sampdoria on Thursday 23 September 2021 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.   Napoli keep the 1st position as sole leaders reaching a perfect score with 15 points.   Sampdoria remaining with 5 points and risking to go down into the relegation zone.  Napoli having a +2 lead over Inter and AC Milan with 13 points each. Napoli winning each of their first five Serie A seasonal matches for the third time in their history, after 1987/88 and 2017/18. Way to go.

AS Roma keeping up the race for the Scudetto.  Roma win the Serie A Week 5 game defeating Udinese  at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.  The victory sees Roma reaching 12 points climbing to the 4th position while Udinese stepped down to the 10th position.

Fiorentina with a big flop failing to win the Serie A Week 5 game against Inter after taking the lead at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.  Inter overturning the result reaching 13 points with a +8 lead over Fiorentina remaining with 5 points.  Stats just confirming that Fiorentina have not won against Inter in Serie A since April 2017 (5-4 in Florence): previously in the last 8 games, 4 Inter wins and 4 draws.  Fiorentina have never won against Inter in the last four Serie A games played at Franchi (3 draws, 1 lost), having achieved four wins in the previous five domestic league matches (1P).

Atalanta win the Serie A Week 5 game defeating Sassuolo in Bergamo.  Atalanta having now a +6 lead reaching 10 points over Sassuolo remaining with 4 points.  After losing their first two Serie A matches against Sassuolo in the Neroverdi’s debut season (2013/14), Atalanta remaining unbeaten in all subsequent 14 matches in the tournament (9 wins, 5 draws).  Sassuolo losing three consecutive defeats in the competition for the first time since January 2020.

Bologna failing to win the Serie A Week 5 game at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium ending with a 2-2 draw against Genoa. Bologna getting a cold shower when Genoa claiming a golden point in the 89th minute with a penalty converted by Domenico Criscito. Genoa’s last away draw in Serie A came last February, 0-0 against Torino: since then Genoa have recorded four wins and six defeats in 10 away league matches.

Juventus win the Serie A Week 5 game against Spezia at the Alberto Picco Stadium.  Juventus with their first win of the season with a much suffered victory.  Juventus gaining these valuable 3 points to leave the relegation zone reaching 5 points.  The hero for Juventus gaining momentum is Matthijs de Ligt scoring the winner goal. Spezia never gave up and put up a strong battle not making it easier for Juve.

Salernitana failing to win the Serie A Week 5 game against Hellas Verona at the Arechi Stadium.  Salernitana have not won a game this season and sitting in the last position of the Serie A.  The game ending with a draw sharing 1 point each.  It is a golden point for Salernitana because this is their first point in Serie A this season!

Cagliari losing the Serie A Week 5 game defeated by Empoli at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy.   Cagliari living a nightmare as this defeat keep them in the relegation zone having only 2 points while Empoli reaching 6 points.  This is the first time that lost to Empoli in Sardegna, Cagliari had 7 home games against Empoli in Serie A: four wins for Cagliari and three draws,  now first lost all of which have arrived in the last five games in order of time in Sardinia.

AC Milan  win the Serie A Week 5 game against Venezia in San Siro Stadium.   The victory helps AC Milan to keep up the race for the Scudetto while Venezia risking to fall down in the relegation zone.  AC Milan being reaching 13 points same as Inter in the 1st place.

  • Stats before the game.  Genoa have won the last 3 Serie A matches against Bologna: never in the history of the competition have they achieved four consecutive wins against Bologna.  Genoa have kept a clean sheet in all their last four games against Bologna in Serie A:  Genoahave not recorded five clean sheets in a row against a single opponent in the 2009 competition against Lecce.
