Unexpected! France, current World Cup Champion, defeated in penalty shootouts by Switzerland winning the UEFA Round of 16 game on Monday 28 June 2021 at the National Arena in Bucharest. Switzerland goalkeeper becoming the hero when saving Kylian Mbappé’s penalty to claim the qualification to the Quarterfinals.  Switzerland will play against Spain in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals in Saint Petersburg on Friday 2 July.  France finished first in the group of death, while Switzerland managed to qualify as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Czech Republic qualifying to the Quarterfinals!    A total upset for Netherlands who finished Group C winners while Czech Republic came third in Group D. Netherlands won all three games in the Round of 16 defeating Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia just to fall down at Wembley. Czech Republic finished third in Group D with 4 points behind England and Croatia and caused the big surprise clinging the Quarterfinals against the favorites.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Wales win the UEFA Euro 2020 Round of 16 defeating Denmark 🇩🇰 on Saturday 26 June 2021 at the Johan Cruyff Arena, Amsterdam in Netherlands.  Denmark qualifying to the Quaterfinals!    Despite Wales ending second place in Group A, while Denmark against all odds ended as runners-up to Belgium in Group B despite losing their first two games in addition to the trauma of Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest on Matchday 1.  Bad luck continues for Wales having lost their only two previous games in Amsterdam against the Netherlands in 1988 and 2014.
