Serie A PREVIEW Week 27, Italian Serie A PREVIEW 2013 – 2014 for Round 27 on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 March 2014, matchday 27

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A PREVIEW for
the
Serie A Week 27, 2013 – 2014 Season on  Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 March
2014, matchday 27.  It’s time to get back to Serie A after the International Friendly Game: Spain 1 – 0 Italy on Wednesday 5 March.

Here is the situation.  Status quo in the top 3 positions will not change this week.  Juventus in the 1st position with 69 points are the absolute leaders keeping a wide lead of +11 points over Roma having 58 points.  Juventus with the challenge to win the home game against Fiorentina.  Juventus not only leading Serie A, but also they have the top scorer of the Serie A. Yep.  Forward Carlos Tevez scoring 14 goals so far followed by Fiorentina forward Giuseppe Rossi with 13 goals.

We might expect a reaction from AS Roma after ending with a 0-0 draw against Inter at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  Roma will be playing the away game against Napoli at the San Paolo Stadium.  It’s a must win for both teams to keep their high ranking.  Napoli also ending with a draw last week against Livorno. Challenge is open now to get back to the winning path.

Pressure high for AC Milan facing Udinese at the Friuli Stadium.  Milan  taking a blow last week after losing in San Siro against Juventus.  Milan will need to start believing in themselves to gain points.  Milan will be motivated to defeat Udinese at the Friuli Stadium to boost the morale of the team ahead of the Champions League game against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday 11 March at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid.

The battle this week will be for the 5th position.  Inter with 41 can keep the 5th position if they defeat Torino at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.  Inter might lose the 5th position if they lose the match and either Parma or Hellas Verona, having 40 points each, win their respective games.

As for the relegation area, there is Bologna vs Sassuolo at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.  On paper, Bologna favorite to win.  Sassuolo having the pressure to cause an upset and defeat Bologna to gain momentum for salvation.  A defeat for Sassuolo means they will remain in the 20th position.

Serie A RESULTS Week 26, Italian Serie A ROUNDUP 2013 – 2014 for Round 26 on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 March 2014, matchday 26

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A ROUNDUP for
the
Serie A Week 26, 2013 – 2014 Season on  Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 March
2014, matchday 26.

Hail to the great one!  It’s an absolute victory for Juventus defeating AC Milan at the San Siro Stadium.  Juventus keeping the one way flight to the third Scudetto observing everybody from above.  Despite all the efforts by AC Milan, they could not find the way to the goal.  Heroes for Juventus are forwards Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez scoring the 2 goals of the match.  Juventus again confirming their dominion in Serie A, nothing else to say.

The first blow is for AS Roma unable to defeat Inter at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  Roma were obligated to win the home game to keep up the race for the Scudetto with Juventus.  This draw gives only 1 point to Roma reaching 58 points and might see the gap with Juventus to -11.  Roma did score a goal, but Referee Bergonzi ruled it out because forward Mattia Destro was caught offside.

Inter also failing to defeat AS Roma and their chances to keep the 5th position with 41 points.  Hellas Verona failed to take back the 5th position after the 0-0 draw against Bologna at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium remaining with 40 points.  There is only 1 point difference with Inter.  Next Round will be a battle for both teams.  Hellas Verona lost the 6th position and went down to the 7th position.  Parma taking over the 6th position after defeating Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium.

Cagliari with an important home game victory defeating Udinese with a 3-0 final score!   Udinese unable to react while Cagliari rejoicing the climbing of the Table.  The first goals in Serie A for Cagliari, Mattias Vecino and Agim Ibraimi.   Udinese went down from the 12th to the 15th position while Cagliari climb a step from the 15th to the 14th position.

Hellas Verona – Bologna, a great save by Verona goalkeeper Rafael saving the penalty by Rolando Bianchi keeping the 0-0 in the 47th minute.

I will update this page with the results

Livorno battling for salvation while Napoli going to the Armando Picchi Stadium to keep the 3rd position.  Napoli looking to get closer to the 2nd position seeing only 7 points difference after Roma draw with Inter with a 0-0.  A victory for Napoli will put them to 54 points shortening the gap to 4 points, though, Roma having a pending game with Parma which was previously postponed.

Napoli opening the score in the 32nd minute after Referee Mazzoleni grants a penalty to Napoli conceded by Livorno defender Federico Ceccherini for a foul on Napoli forward Goran Pandev bringing him down.  Livorno players protest, but Mazzoleni not changing his decision.  Taking the penalty spot is forward Dries Mertens converting the penalty with a right footed shot defeating Livorno goalkeeper Francesco Bardi in the center.

Mamma mia!  Livorno equalizing after a mess between Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina and defender Miguel Britos!   In the 39th minute, the action starting with the assist by midfielder Djamel Mesbah with a cross towards the center while goalkeeper Reina anticipating to block the action… Here is the thing, the bim bam boom… defender Britos and Reina almost clashing to clear the ball while Livorno midfielder Ibrahima Mbaye from close range defeat Reina with a left footed shot in the bottom left corner. It seems there will be an own goal assigned to Reina for deviation…..
