The numbers from the first 12 matches in Serie A 2015-16 tell you unequivocally that Gervinho has been key to Roma’s attack.

Based on the data Opta has supplied, the Ivorian forward – who is the Giallorossi’s top goalscorer along with Miralem Pjanic with seven goals in all competitions – is leading the rankings in a number of different categories.

To start with, Roma’s No. 27 has the highest chance-conversion rate (46%) of anyone at the club, having notched six strikes in the league from 13 attempts on goal, seven of which have been on target.

Gervinho has also recovered possession 23 times – the most in the Giallorossi forward department. Iago Falque is sitting in second spot in this category on 19.

The Ivory Coast international player is also at the top of the pile in terms of chances created for his fellow attackers with 12, while he’s second only to Mohamed Salah for successful runs with the ball: The Egyptian has dribbled with the ball 31 times, while Gervinho is stuck on 29.

Finally, the Ivorian’s six goals in Serie A this year have come in the last seven league outings.
