Here are the declarations of AS Roma Coach Rudi Garcia after losing the Serie A Week 10 game, Napoli 2 – 0 AS Roma,  on Saturday 1 November 2014 at the San Paolo Stadium.  It’s a painful defeat for Roma because they were sharing 22 points with Juventus.   This defeat leaves Roma with 22 points, Napoli 18 points, and Juventus with 25 as sole leaders.

2 Roma Roma 22 10 7 1 2 16 6 10
3 Napoli Napoli 18 10 5 3 2 19 12 7

After losing the match, AS Roma coach Rudi Garcia saying, “It would have given us an important psychological boost if we’d been able to get an equalizer but we didn’t have many chances. Napoli were better than us today and the best team won.

“I preferred not to risk De Rossi but with the same midfield as today we’ve obtained some excellent results against great teams before, and we could have done better than we did today.

“We got our approach all wrong at the start: in the first half we lost almost every tackle, then we got into gear as the game wore on. The second half was totally different and we saw 25-30 minutes of the real Roma – that should give us confidence going into the coming matches.

“Can Daniele and Keita play together? Sure they can. Push Pjanic further forward? That’s an option, although Miralem needs to get on the ball a lot: he likes being in the thick of things. Perhaps if I’m short on attacking options one day that’s something I’ll consider but for the time being there’s no need.

“We’re down to the bare bones in defense and we have both left-footed centre-backs are unavailable. We do need our full-backs to push up more but we’re all to blame for our first-half performance. As I said, we had the right ideas after the break but that’s something we have to show for the full 90 minutes and not just part of the game.

“It was a mental problem and it’s something we need to work on. We have to do better: it might only be the first time it’s happened but we must make sure it doesn’t happen again – certainly not at a place like Napoli where you have to be completely on your game if you want to win.

“Our substitutions? When you’re trailing you need fresh legs up front because they come on with more desire but the fact we weren’t able to find an equalizer was also down to the solid defensive display put on by Napoli.”
