Gyömber helps Slovakia qualify for Euro 2016

There was just one Giallorossi player in international action on Monday night, as Norbert Gyömber’s Slovakia side traveled to Luxembourg knowing that Euro 2016 qualification was almost within their grasp.

The Roma No. 23 started the match in the right-back position and remained on the field for the full 90 minutes, producing a good performance as Slovakia stormed to a 4-2 victory over the hosts. The win, coupled with Ukraine’s 1-0 home loss to reigning champions Spain, meant that Slovakia secured second spot in Group C and sealed automatic qualification for the finals in France. It constitutes an historic achievement for the Slovakians, who have never before qualified for the Euros.

There are another four Giallorossi stars in international action this evening: Alessandro Florenzi will be in the familiar surroundings of our very own Stadio Olimpico as Italy take on Norway, Radja Nainggolan’s Belgium side welcome Israel to Brussels and Miralem Pjanic and Edin Džeko travel to Cyprus with Bosnia & Herzegovina. Italy and Belgium are already assured of a place at the finals, while Bosnia can still bag the play-off spot in Group B.
