Garcia surprises fans at Jakarta training session

AS Roma supporters hoping to catch a glimpse of their heroes arriving at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium this morning were treated to far more than they could ever have hoped for when Rudi Garcia decided to invite them all in to see the team training.

A behind-closed-doors session had initially been scheduled for this morning but the coach instead chose to open up the stadium gates and let the local supporters watch the Giallorossi from the stands.

The amazing scenes witnessed at the airport and the hotel yesterday when the squad arrived were repeated before the Giallorossi’s first session in the Indonesian capital. Thousands of fans serenaded the players with all sorts of stadium chants – from popular 1980s songs to the most recent ones – creating an incredible Curva Sud-like welcome for the team.

Then came the most welcome surprise for the passionate locals and they wasted no time in coloring an entire section of the stadium yellow and red, cheering the players on as if it were a cup final and booming out a spine-tingling rendition of ‘Roma, Roma, Roma’.

The atmosphere is sure to be even more electric this evening when the highly anticipated AS Roma Indonesia Day 2015 finally takes place.
