New Fiorentina third kit: a tribute to Firenze and the Republic of Florence

Fiorentina and Kappa present the Viola’s brand-new third kit, which completes the kit collection for the 2020/21 season.
At the heart of the concept behind the third kit is a desire to celebrate the special bond between Fiorentina and Florence. The white cross on the red background is a clear nod to the flag of the Republic of Florence, yet the two colours are also an integral part of the history and identity of Fiorentina, who played in a white and red strip until 1929.

In a further reference to the Viola’s history, the third kit is being revealed on the day of the club’s 94th anniversary. It was back on 29 August 1926 that the merger of Palestra Ginnastica Fiorentina and Club Sportivo Firenze was completed and Fiorentina was born.

Printed on the inside of the neckline are the words “Remember you represent Florence”. As the motto of the Historic Procession of the Republic of Florence and Calcio Storico, the slogan has appeared on the official membership card of every member of the Historic Procession since the 1950s. It is a message that unites the team and the fans in a shared commitment, a collective responsibility: to preserve the identity of Florence.
Fiorentina and Kappa wanted the young people of Florence – selected via street casting – to be the first to wear the new jersey, recognising that pride in our city is one of the things that unites all Viola fans.
Available now in all Fiorentina Stores, on fiorentinastore.com and on kappa.com, the new kit will be worn by ACF Fiorentina Femminile in their game against Napoli and by the men’s first team, who will be training at the Stadio Artemio Franchi tomorrow with the Primavera squad, fresh from their triumph in the Primavera Coppa Italia final.

Our thanks go to Ninjaz, the Florence-based street artist who created the “Remember you represent Florence” mural which features in all content associated with the new jerseys. The mural remains on the pillars of the Indiano Bridge and can be seen from the pedestrian walkway.
