Fiorentina chooses Bagno a Ripoli as site for new home and training center

ACF Fiorentina is pleased to announce that, together with the Municipality of Bagno a Ripoli, it has identified the area on the limits of the city of Florence where the club’s new offices and training center will be built. The agreement for the acquisition of the land was signed today.

Covering an area of approximately 62 acres, the new Casa Viola will be one of the largest training facilities in Italy. It will house all of the club’s offices, as well as the training fields for the men’s and women’s first teams and the youth teams.

For the first time in Viola history, Fiorentina will have a club-owned training center. With the men’s team, the women’s team and the youth academy all working together, this new structure will further the club’s development on the field and increase its overall value, enabling Fiorentina to aspire to become one of Europe’s most solid, avant-garde clubs in terms of organization and facilities.

“I am proud and excited to announce this new chapter in the history of our club,” President Rocco Commisso said. “After buying the club on June 6th 2019, strengthening the team during the summer and entering the Mediacom sponsorship, we are now making another major investment which we believe is crucial for Fiorentina’s growth and will become an asset for the fans and the Florence region.

I would like to thank the Guicciardini Corsi Salviati family, who has owned the land for more than 150 years, Veronica S.r.l. for its help, the Town Council and Mayor of Bagno a Ripoli Francesco Casini, as well as all the institutions which have welcomed and helped with the project and will continue to be fundamental to the construction of this state-of-the-art training center.

I hope that it will be possible to carry out the approval process for the construction of a new stadium just as quickly, as that would be another key step enabling Fiorentina to grow further.

Since day one I have always said that I wanted to get things done quickly and the signing of this agreement is proof that when everyone wants to achieve something and works together, it is possible to do things fast and efficient”.

Professor Marco Casamonti of Archea Associati, the architectural firm responsible for implementing the work, added: “Fiorentina is planning a project in an area of great natural beauty and the idea is that every aspect of the training center should be in harmony with the surrounding area. The aim is to create an avant-garde training facility that can be a reference point both for the local area and the world of sport in general. The area is close to the main transport networks, the motorway exit and the terminus of the future tramline.

We expect to commence construction within 12 months. During this time, we will work on the project and carry out all the administrative procedures.”

“This is the start of a new era for Fiorentina and we are pleased that Bagno a Ripoli is a part of it,” commented the Mayor Francesco Casini. “This is a huge opportunity for our municipality that will enable an area of value that risked going into decline to be redeveloped, with a project that will be environmentally sustainable. The new owners, president Rocco Commisso, his wife Catherine and son Joseph, together with Giuseppe Barone and all the staff, have shown they are keen to do things quickly and well. We wanted to do likewise and we were able to reach this point fast. We are proud to host Fiorentina’s new home and to help the club grow.”
