Fiorentina win the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Quarterfinals eliminating Atalanta on Thursday 10 February 2022 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy.  A blasting victory for Fiorentina in the 94th minute to claim the qualification to the Coppa Italia Semifinal with the winning goal by Nikola Milenkovic.

Fiorentina opened the score in the 9th minute.  Referee Michael Fabbri giving a penalty to Fiorentina conceded by Marten de Roon after a foul on Nicolás González. It is Krzysztof Piatek to defeat Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso converting the penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner.

Referee Michael Fabbri gave another penalty to Fiorentina conceded by Teun Koopmeiners after a foul on Youssef Maleh. Incredible so, Krzysztof Piatek failed to convert the penalty, but while the ball was still in the area, BAM! Fiorentina equalized for the 2-2 in the 71st minute. It is again Mr. Pum, Pum, Pum, Krzysztof Piatek with a right-footed shot to the center.

A “Movie classic ending”. Fiorentina grabbed the victory in the last minute. Yep, in the 94th minute, Nikola Milenkovic blasting a goal with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Giacomo Bonaventura. The goal was ratified after consulting the VAR.

Stats before the game. Atalanta and Fiorentina have met 10 times in the Italian Cup: the Bergamo players have won two of these games, with two draws and six Viola wins to complete. On the only occasion in which Atalanta and Fiorentina crossed in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup, it was the Tuscan team that went through: in 1998/99 the Viola responded with a 1-0 inside to the 3-2 of the match d was played at the home of the Bergamo players.
