Agudelo: "I’m living a dream"

Kevin Agudelo described his move to Fiorentina as a “dream” as he was formally unveiled as a Viola player in a press conference on Thursday.

“I’m living a dream,” he said. “I always wanted to play in Europe. It all happened very quickly but I feel so happy because this is a club that believes in my ability and is giving me an opportunity. I’m delighted and I hope to repay them for everything they’ve done for me with my performances on the pitch.”

Agudelo revealed he had no trouble in making the decision to leave Genoa for Fiorentina in the January transfer window.
“It was an easy decision,” he said. “I knew this was a massive club and there are some new ideas now – they want to grow and achieve big things. I had a bit of help from my partner and my wife. I’d never been to Florence but had heard some great things about the city. I’ve been able to see a bit of it and I loved it.”
The Colombian youngster also gave Fiorentina fans an idea of what to expect from him on the pitch.
“I’m a central midfielder and I think I have good attributes in both attack and defence,” he said. “When I’m needed in attack, I’ll be ready, and when I need to get stuck into defending I’ll do that too. I know I have a lot to learn and improve on, such as my passing game, where I still make a lot of mistakes. I know I can improve a lot on those things and learn from the experienced players here. I want to work as hard as possible to learn more every day and show the talent I have.”
Fiorentina face Atalanta on Saturday, meaning Agudelo could come up against fellow Colombians Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel.
“I’ll be coming up against two compatriots who are top players,” he said. “If I get the chance to play, they’ll be opponents. If I have to compete to win a ball I’ll put everything into it. We’ll be opponents for the 90 minutes.”
