🏆 👉 AC Milan has no option than just win the UEFA Champions League Group Stage Group B Matchday 3 game against FC Porto on Tuesday 19 October 2021 at Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal. AC Milan are in the last position without points. The victory is a must because a lost will practically say “good bye” to the qualification.
Porto and AC Milan have not met since the 2003 European Super Cup final, when Porto were defending UEFA Cup champions and AC Milan had just won the Champions League. The Rossoneri won 1-0 with a goal by forward Andriy Shevchenko.
AC Milan last played against Porto in the Champions League in the group stage of the 1996/97 season; Porto won 3-2 in San Siro before drawing 1-1 at Estádio das Antas, with current manager Sergio Conceicao on the pitch in both games. Porto ended the group in first place, Milan in third and was eliminated. This is why Milan must win this game to avoid a deja vu.
Including qualifiers, seven of AC Milan’s eight away games in UEFA competition in Portugal have ended in a draw (1W); the only partial victory came against Porto in March 1993 (1-0 thanks to a goal from Jean-Pierre Papin). Porto have lost their last two Champions League home games (0-2 against Chelsea and 1-5 against Liverpool) and will be looking to avoid suffering three consecutive home losses in the competition for the first time in their history.
