Roberto D’Aversa, saying, “I can only congratulate my side for what they did out there tonight.  We have reason to be disappointed because we’ve lost due to one of those moments – but the goal is on us. I think the game was in the balance right until the end. We had lots of chances to score, but just weren’t able to get a goal. We were up against a very good side who came second last year and have strengthened since then.”

On Sampdoria tactics

“The four attacking players bought quality, but they helped out in both phases.  Everyone had an excellent game. The fact that we’re coming off the pitch feeling hard done by shows that we performed well. Sadly we go home with no points, so we need to focus on the next one straight away. The images of [Manolo] Gabbiadini don’t look good – that’s a shame. We’ll find out how bad the ankle injury is soon.”
