Lazio and AC Milan had to settle for a draw in the Serie A Week 3 match on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.   Milan and Lazio each walk away with a point, bringing Lazio’s total to four while Milan ends the first half with just two. The match concludes in a draw after an exciting first half where Pavlovic put the Rossoneri ahead.  However, Castellanos and Dia turned the tide in the second half. Fonseca made some strategic substitutions that quickly paid off, with Leao scoring the equalizer. In the closing moments, both Zaccagni and Abraham nearly found the back of the net.

AC Milan with a tough start to the 2024-25 season, having drawn 2-2 with Torino in their opener and suffered a 2-1. Milan still without a victory.

The beginning…

AC Milan took the lead in the 8th minute.  Strahinja Pavlovic netted a goal with a powerful header from just a few feet away, aiming for the high center. Christian Pulisic provided the assist after Patric conceded a corner.

Lazio equalized in the 62nd minute. Valentín Castellanos defeated Milan goalkeeper with a right-footed strike into the bottom left corner, thanks to an assist from Nuno Tavar.

AC Milan’s Rafael Leão scored an equalizer with a right-footed shot aimed at the center, with Tammy Abraham providing the assist.

✅   Stats before the game:

Milan have won five of their last six league games against Lazio (L1), including all three of the most recent ones without conceding a goal. The Rossoneri have not had a longer winning streak against the Biancocelesti in Serie A since 2003-2005 (five in that case).
Lazio and Milan have not drawn in Serie A since 25 November 2018 (1-1 in that case at the Olimpico), since then there have been eight Rossoneri wins and three Biancocelesti victories.
Milan won their last away game against Lazio in the league (1-0 on 1 March); the last time the Rossoneri recorded two away wins in a row against the Biancocelesti dates back to 2007-2009 (three in that case).
Lazio could lose two of their first three games of the season in two Serie A championships in a row for the first time since 1953/54 – 1954/55.
Milan had not won either of their first two games in a Serie A season since the 2011/12 season (a draw with Lazio and a loss to Napoli) – in that case the Rossoneri then drew the third game (against Udinese).
In the event of a defeat in this match, Milan would record their worst start in Serie A in the three points for a win era, fourth overall in their history in the tournament, after 1946/47, 1938/39 and 1930/31 (always one point).

AC Milan new signing Tammy Abraham
