Mission failed!  A total blow for AC Milan coach  Clarence Seedorf directing his first Champions League game suffering a home defeat in San Siro.   Atletico de Madrid and AC Milan playing for the first time in a Champions League game.  The Second Leg will be played on Saturday 15 March at the Estadio Vicente Calderon, Madrid, España.  AC Milan playing with traditional jersey Red and Black.

In the 10th minute, AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli missing the target from a direct free kick seeing his right footed shot going to the left….
 
Kaka closer to the goal in the 14th minute while Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with a mega stretch divert the left footed shot  hitting the crossbar.   Great effort by Kaka and applauded by Seedorf.

Match delay in the 19th minute and it looks like  players want to fight…. Milan defending midfielder Andrea Pioli who is on the ground while Referee Proenca rushing to clear temper.  Atletico Madrid defender Emiliano Insua gets the yellow card for the foul on Milan defender Mattia De Sciglio

AC Milan making a first substitution in the 26th minute.  Defender Ignazio Abate replacing Mattia De Sciglio.

A yellow card to Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez for a foul on forward Mario Balotelli in the 41st minute.

Balotelli missing the target in the 43rd minute after his right footed shot “miscalculate not by much” the target to the right.  The assist is by defender Daniele Bonera.

A cold water shower at San Siro in the 83rd minute.  It is Atletico Madrid to open the score following a corner conceded by Milan defender Urby Emanuelson.  Bad luck for Milan as defender Ignazio Abate tries to clear the ball heading it away…. yet, the ball freely on the way of forward Diego Costa for the final headed goal defeating Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati from close rage in the top left corner.    Immediate celebration by Atletico players and fans while coach Diego Simeone loudly encouraging his players.

An attempt to goal in the 87th minute by defender Adil Rami missing his right footed shot to the left… no luck….

Three minutes added time……  Milan not finding the way to the goal and is already late!  Referee Proenca whistles the end of the game.

DISCIPLINE before the game: Midfielder Muntari suspended, Riccardo Montolivo starts a two-game ban,  Mario Balotelli and Nigel De Jong  are a booking away from suspension

played in 7 derbies against Atletico picking up 3 wins, 2 defeats and 2
draws. In those matches, Seedorf managed to score 2 goals. In January 1997 he
marked his first Madrid derby with a goal in the 84th minute in the 4-1
win at the Vicente Calderón. Ricardo Kakà on the other hand played for
Real Madrid from 2009 to 2013 and scored after 5 minutes in his first
match in the Madrid derby in a 3-2 win at the Vicente Calderón in
November 2009. His 3 appearances in the derby in the league were all at
the Vicente Calderón and all resulted in wins.
