ON THIS DAY MARCH 5: MODENA, PERUGIA AND GATTUSO

MILAN – The Rossoneri and March 5. Here below is our look-back at a selection of memorable events to have fallen on this date in the club’s history:

– 1916, Federal Cup: exactly 100 years ago today, Milan won two matches in just one day. The first was in reality by default, and by a 2-0 score-line, versus Casale who were forced to withdraw from the competition because of financial difficulties. The second was also by a 2-0 score-line, but this time out on the pitch and versus Modena at the Velodromo Sempione in Milan. The goals that day were scored by Cevenini and Avanzini.

– 2003, Italian Cup: the Rossoneri ran out 2-1 winners in the return-leg of the Italian Cup semi-finals against Perugia and booked their place in the final versus Roma.

– 2011, Serie A: Rino Gattuso scored the winning goal away at Juventus.
