ON THIS DAY MARCH 4: JUVE, VIOLA AND SUPER PIPPO

MILAN – Here is our look-back at three memorable moments to have fallen on this date, 4 March, in the club’s illustrious history:

– 1951: inspired by the great trio of Gre-No-Li, Milan defeated Juventus 2-0 in a top of the table clash at San Siro. Nordahl and Liedholm were on the score-sheet.

– 1979: the Rossoneri came out on top in a five goal thriller at Fiorentina, winning 3-2. Bigon bagged himself a double while Aldo Maldera scored the other for a vital league win in Milan’s march towards Scudetto no. 10 in the club’s history.

– 2006: in a league match at home to Empoli, and with the scores tied at 0-0 with less than 15 minutes to go, Milan’s strike force of Inzaghi-Shevchenko burst into life. The former netted a brace while Sheva added another for a final score of 3-0 in favour of the Rossoneri.
