AC Milan: “NOW FOR SAMPDORIA”

Poli and Mihajlovic spoke to the Milan Channel after winning the San Nicola Trophy.

MILAN – After lifting the San Nicola Trophy on Tuesday, Andrea Poli and Sinisa Mihajlovic both looked ahead to Saturday’s Serie A match with Sampdoria:

ANDREA POLI
“I am happy to have got my name on the score-sheet. Winning is always good for the team and I am pleased with the manner in which we played today. We cannot hide the fact we’re coming off the back of two disappointing results versus Atalanta and Juventus, but we now have all of the international players back, we’re close to having a full squad again and we cannot forget that not so long ago we won three matches in a row. On Saturday we have to do everything to win versus Sampdoria. There is no other option. We know we can play better technically and we must and have to make that happen. Despite the last two results, the team spirit and the rapport with the coach is still strong.”

SINISA MIHAJLOVIC
“It’s always nicer to win than lose, even if it’s always built up as a drama if you lose these type of matches and seen as normal if you win. We played well, were relaxed and we passed the ball around well. I was impressed by the quality of Locatelli. I wanted to see him play and it was the first time. He was a bit timid at times and he needs to play more passes forwards, but he did well and I was pleased with his performance. 4-4-2? We will think about it this week with all the players available. We always try new formations out, and even if we play a 4-3-3 Saturday, a 4-4-2 formation remains an option for the future.”
