The season’s turning point for Milan who started with a young Christian Abbiati in goal. The shot-stopper would be one of the stars of the season and in the battle at the Dall’Ara with Bologna. Beppe Signori broke the deadlock with a free-kick, but the Rossoneri didn’t lose heart and levelled six minutes later courtesy of an angled strike from Guly. On the cusp of half-time the hosts restored their lead through Signori’s second of the match but the match was far from over. After the break, an own-goal from Magoni brought the teams level once again before N’Gotty’s last-gasp free-kick gave Milan a crucial 3 points to keep them in the hunt for the league title. Come the end of the season, Milan would be crowned champions for the 16th time in their history.
