🏆👉 AS Roma won the Europa League Round of 16 First Leg game against Brighton and Hove Albion on Thursday 7 March 2024 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. It was a perfect match for Roma who punished Brighton with two goals in each half. Roma delighted their fans with a poker without conceding goals. Goals by Paulo Dybala, Romelu Lukaku, Gianluca Mancini, and Bryan Cristante. The Giallorossi are pampering Daniele De Rossi who, since his arrival, has been able to make the most of his team’s offensive qualities, now with a foot and a half in the Europa League quarter-finals.

The return match is in seven days, in between Roma will play a very important match away in Florence for the race for fourth place while De Zerbi’s men will be busy in the Premier League at the AMEX Arena against Nottingham Forest.

AS Roma took the lead in the 14th minute. Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala defeated Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Leandro Paredes. The goal was verified after VAR review.

Roma with another goal in the 43rd minute. Forward Romelu Lukaku scored with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner.

Stats before the game: Roma have won seven of their last eight home games against English clubs in all European competitions, including the last four in a row, following a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the 2014-15 Champions League group stage. This will be the first match between Brighton and an Italian team in European competitions; English teams have progressed through a knockout stage in seven of their eight matches against Italians in the Europa League – including the last five – since Tottenham were eliminated by Fiorentina in the 2014/15 round of 32. Roma have lost just one of their last 23 home games in the Europa League (W17, D5), 1-2 against Real Betis in the 2022/23 group stage, since then they have won eight in their next nine home games in the competition (1N). Roma have drawn both of their last two matches in UEFA competitions (double 1-1 vs Feyenoord in the playoffs of this Europa League) and have not been without a win in more than two matches on the European field since the 2019/20 season (in that case two draws and a defeat in the group stage of the same tournament).
