Napoli with a prestigious victory winning the Champions League Group Stage – Group A game crushing Liverpool on Wednesday 7 September 2022 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. Napoli remain undefeated at the start of Serie A returning return to the highest European competition after two seasons of absence. Napoli humiliated Liverpool, runners-up in the Champions League last season.

Napoli opened the score in the 5th minute. Piotr Zielinski defeated Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by James Milner after a handball. <

Liverpool shortened the distance for the 4-1 in the 49th minute. Luis Díaz defeated Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Andrew Robertson.
